Hello,
New member here, Name is Rich. Just purchased the Boss G 21 here at the Geek ( probably should have gotten the G 15). Concerns about the lines on the front fenders and hood of my pension burner,( retirement present to myself ) A 2019 black 'Vette G.S
I purchased the Boss to remove the swirls in the paint from the car sitting on the lot for 4-5 mos. ( plus the machine washing by the dealer ) prior to my purchase. I bought the G 21 and blackfire one step. What should I use after the one step to seal the paint ?
Can I purchase a smaller pad for the G 21 to do smaller areas of the car or do I have to purchase another machine?
I used a (cleaner) wax on the car (by hand) in Dec. after I purchased the car .
I was thinking of first washing, clay bar, griots paint prep then the buffing. What pads should I use , I purchased 5 pads, 2 yellow, perfection pads----- 2 orange, correction pads ------- and 1 black finishing pad
I have always done my cars, trucks, motorcycles by hand prior to this. Any tips will help a ton. I have watched a few things on you tube
Also, should I use the Inner flex pad under the pads ?
Sorry for rambling !
Thank you again!!
Rich

The BF One Step has a pretty durable sealant in the product,I believe you can put a 5" backing plate on the 21 but ideally a machine that runs smaller 3" pads will be best. Most GM paint is considered hard which means it's harder to correct, you may need to get a dedicated compound and polish. Since this is your first time with a polisher please read up on test spots and why they are important, no sense going wild on the whole car and being disappointed. Good luck

I have the G21 and have run the 5 BP since I bought it and it works great.

I love my Rupes Mini and would highly recommend it.

Make sure you have at least 4 pads of each, 4 orange and 4 white and 4 yellow. BF AIO should be a great starting point with the Griots pads. Start with a test spot with the orange pad and go from there.

Here's the backing plate

Keep in mind their is 25% off sale running today!!!

Where do I find test spots, sorry, could not locate on doing a search ?
Thank you again,
Rich

Hey Rich. Welcome to AGO!

Test spots are simply what the name implies..... You test out a combination of pad/product (or machine if you own more than one type) to determine if the results are satisfactory to you on one spot of the car.

You mentioned that you watched some Youtube vids. Please look at Mike Phillips videos. He is the Head Honcho here on AGO, and has the most experience with anything detail related by far.

Oh, by the way, mans' best friend can talk to us, just look into his eyes !!

Your correct in that respect, But my Chip ( Mini Schnauzer ) talks to me for his cookies when he does the things he is told to do. BUT that is me creating that situation. <:)
