New Mobile Detailing Business - VAN WRAP

If you’re really hyped about theft, get a set of RV hydraulic stabilisers installed. Jack them down any time you’re parked longer than half an hour.

I’ll bet that would put spanners in any thief’s plans.

You hit it on the head. I did just what you said after my equipment was stolen. I used 2" square steel legs that drop and lock from inside just as a trailer hitch and receiver works. I had the trailer manufacturer weld them in when my new trailer was being built. So now if they want my stuff they have to work much harder. And now I also have insurance.

Boom.

If I was getting a new van I’d install an in-cab electric model with a separate key. That way I’d be more inclined to power them down for a half hour stop.

Wow great ideas guys! Wristy.... I too think those electric ones would be cool but aren't they like really expensive? $2k? I might want to keep looking around but the all automated setup would be king. Hmmmm I may have to consider something like this because a stolen van sounds like a nightmare.

Oh yeah today is the day! I am so excited to be picking my van up later today freshly wrapped! I am super excited... I will be ordering shirts (t-shirts & polos) as well as new business cards to match the van wrap. Not sure where I should get business cards done but I do want a unique card.... maybe something etched out of the card to make it have a dropped in image. Anyway thanks for the ideas guys and checking out my new wrap!

Keep it simple, duplex die-cut cards are exxy, you don’t want those bad boys to be $5/card.

If you’re after some bling, I’d probably go with a 350-400gsm premium offset card stock, PMS 877 metallic spot/cold set foil & matt cello all over.

One side, your dark to light blue gradient with “JOSHER” detailing etc front and centre in spot gloss/UV.

Second side, blue gradient with your details and brands logo list across the bottom.

Sweet!!! Thanks for the help in the business card area.... You seem to know your stuff about cards and that certainly helps me! Any online company you recommend I go to for these?? Or would you suggest using fiver? I personally am not much of a photo editor / business card designer... I guess I should at the least give it a shot before asking or paying for someone else to do it..

Unsure what the quality is like where you are but I’d stay away from online printers. Go and talk to a local pro who knows their stuff, they’ll eat those embellishments for breakfast.

As for the design, have a go but you’ll need to pay someone to set the art up ready to print with the embellishments (foil, PMS, coatings) you require.

If you aren’t in a huge hurry, I can put you in touch with someone who can get it done in some spare time (They’re in Australia but that doesn’t matter these days). Just shoot me a PM.

Edit: Check out moo.com Raised Print Business Cards | Raised Spot Gloss Finish | MOO US

They are pretty well known and do some embellishments that would suit for a reasonable price.

PM sent! Thank you!!

Well I wanted to show anyone who is interested my Mobile Detailing Wrap on my Sprinter..... I picked it up yesterday morning and am personally really excited about the future.... I don't a wrap isn't everything but I know it's exactly the wrap I was looking to get.. I feel relieved because I not a designer but I knew I wanted it designed a certain way so I am thankful I was able to put everything into words and have the designer help me get to where I wanted to be.

On a side note..... I ran into the host of Daily Driven Exotics yesterday morning and to make a long story short!!!! He is going to have me reveal his new super car to his YouTube channel by me foaming it up and then revealing his new car and new wrap to his channel! I am so stoked because he just hit 1 million subscribers... Also the owner of PFS asked me to do some work for them and since I live so close to their shop they could keep me pretty busy he thinks!

thanks for checking out my new venture and also for the advice and help you guys have given me.

gotta say, you're driving in the right direction ! truck looks great & it looks like there's plenty of work coming your way. I know those wraps aren't cheap but it's already paying off.
good luck man.
Carlo

I think you need a nice Autogeek decal for that back door :xyxthumbs:

Thanks Carlo!! Appreciate the nice words and I think you are right..... I totally would sport an AutoGeek decal as well.... Maybe I could get Mike Phillips to send one to me! I'll have to see or locate a good spot for it.... Mike if you're out there and want to donate a decal to the cause I'd love to add it somewhere on my van... You are right the wrap isn't wasn't cheap but I dove into it thinking it would pay itself off eventually. I think the wrap breaks down to be about $180 a month until it needs to be re-wrapped

The wrap is awesome looking Josher!

And what a job you have gotten right away with the revealing of the new car for your customer. Cool way to reveal it too. Ask if he can get you credits with a link to your website in the Youtube video write up. With so many viewers you can get some new customers.

Have you started full time yet or when do you plan to?

Hope you will have success with your mobile detailing business!

Mate, the wrap has come out a treat. Good job on the black steelies. Rough and ready. Don’t need any bling junk.

What are the top racks for?

Hey Tony thank you! Yes how good timing yesterday was in my favor most definitely... I'm actually in the latest video at 15:08 on Daily Driven Exotics channel.. That video was recorded yesterday. haha that was funny to see me in the video... I'm the guy that he said thanks for subscribing and supporting the channel i said 'Thank you'

I am full time as of now.. I had the owner of PFS text me today to wash a motor home so I'm waiting on the 'when' I still don't know how much I will charge them... They may also want a wash in preparation to be wrapped (in that case less work involved but it's still a motor home lol) I am going to accept any work that comes my way as long as the price is agreed upon prior. I set my prices but after detailing cars throughout the years I got to realize ALL of the details I do for too cheap are the ones making me not enjoy it. So if people don't agree with my prices I just gently refer them to one of 2 other places that have cheaper packages... :b thank you again Tony!

Thank you Wristy! The steelies came with it but they were HORRIBLE so i plasti dipped them... even peeling plasti dipped wheels look better than they did when I got the van. The roof rack came with the van... I have never used it but I think it would be more work to take it off and patch the roof than to just leave it up there. I am considering wrapping the tips of those 6 points on the roof rack that go up in the air ORANGE to match the wrap.... Maybe just the top 2 inches of each.. I think down the road I might reinforce the roof rack and build a deck on top of my van... (no rush on that though since i need to focus on detailing)

I wanted to share with you guys the first RV I have ever done yesterday.... It was a 44' foot MONSTER! lol Just look how it dwarfs my already really big Dodge Sprinter.... Anyway a bit about the wash... This wash was for the owner of Protective Film Solutions (for one of his customers) It was just a wash for pre-wrap.... meaning it wasn't a full detailed wash.. I only washed 4 sides (no top) did not focus on chrome, windows, or tire dressing... that was specifically not asked for and the dressing might work against installing the wrap so I made sure to keep the tires looking 'blah' WOW what an experience this was! I think i'll make a slight compilation of me washing it and post to Youtube later... if I do I will post the link here for anyone if they want to check it out.

The job took 2 hours or so and paid me $200 dollars. I told him I was going to charge him $5 dollars a foot since it wasn't a 'full service wash' He came back and offered me $20 less and said $200 instead of $220 = $5 a foot. I am happy. Anyway here is a final picture.... I really wanted to show just how MASSIVE this thing is.... 10 wheels and a doorbell on the outside lol. Also I will share a picture of the back of my van... i recently changed it up a bit moved the 2 canopy frames up to the middle of the van... put a ladder in the back and also fix mounted my vacuum up top and got a new hose / reel for the vacuum..... oh man it's nice

Dang having this wrap has seriously changed my business already and it's only been 1 week... This has been the busiest week EVER for me... my body is physically so sore. The other day I washed DDE's (Daily Driven Exotics - Youtube channel) Audi R8 for free... actually not really for free but they didn't pay me with cash, they are putting me in their video they release today or tomorrow on youtube. I am so stoked because they have over a million subscribers and they said 'once the video goes up expect to get a lot of phone calls and text messages so be ready' anyway I wanted to give an update about how the wrap has made others contact me who may have showed slight interest before but now they are 100% ready and I have already detailed their car this week or I have them on the schedule. Wrapping a business vehicle is a must!

I'll show you the R8 here... check out the video in a day or two on their youtube channel to see my little skit they let me be a part of in their video. I also did PFS's McLaren 570s
