New Order - Am I missing anything?

If you look around on other forums, The porta cable is known for breaking esp on the xp. Barry theal's shop has burned up a lot of these machines. This is just one example.

Do you own both machines. done side by side testing. I have and found the GG will win.

My porta cable is now broke in only a few uses, and less than a year

Funny all the reading I have done has turned up a ton of broken GG but I have yet to see or remember any PCs breaking. Besides I'm not saying the PC can't or wont break, I am saying the GG has a track record of failing while the PC doesn't. I know my PC has given me years of trouble free service. If the GG ever becomes a more reliable machine I will be more than happy to pick another one up. I'm not tying to rag on the GG DA I'm just stating facts.

Do I own them both? Not anymore, I got rid of the GG shortly after buying it and kept the PC.

You have found the GG will win at what? They both will provide the exact same results in the end.

I have a garage of Porter Cable tools... saws, drills and both 7424 models... I have had my original 7424 for about 4 or 5 years now... no problems. Just needed to replace the brushes. I have had the XP for almost 2 years... no problems. I do not run a high volume operation, but it's fair to say I have put both machines through their paces. Mr. Theal runs a pretty high volume operation, and the 7424 isn't exactly a heavy duty machine intended for production type work. I would expect a unit to wear more quickly under those circumstances. Just my .02

Good info, Diffrent strokes for diffrent folks, Your correct on the end results being the same.

Seems we have each had better luck with the diffrent brands after using them both.

That was only one example, I could get more. Mine broke with in a few uses.

I Do have other power tools of theres and they are good. But From my expeirence the porta cable did not hold up.

I am sure we could take any tool, research it and find a whole lot that have failed
