So, my miata is currently receiving a repaint. A little touch-up, really....

Id like to coat it as i assemble. Make it easier to maintain over the next 20 years.

How long do I wait for the clear to cure? Im spraying in a homemade booth.
Can I coat rubber, plastic, suspension, etc?
Reson not to do the engine bay near the turbo?

My painter has always told me to wait 30 days before sealing the paint.

It would be fun to follow along with your adventure. Do you have a build thread somewhere?

I do! There's two versions. The grm thread is the full on interactive build thread since the beginning of the build. In 2017....

There's a few other places i have posted the major updates into a cohesive thread over the course of the build, but relieved very little engagement so it reads a lot shorter and drier.

Dang, that should keep me busy for a while
Thanks for sharing those links.

I would personally reach out to the manufacturer of the clear coat you are using and find out what their recommendation is for your conditions.

I've heard 90 days and I've heard 30 days from professional painters that I know (I don't think they know either)

The suspension parts, engine bay and rubber plastics are all good to coat

You're welcome! Turbomiata.net is the cliffs notes version of grm. Either should be fun times though.

And grm should be a fun forum entirely for you to peruse. So many different areas of the hobby. And areas of life represented there. Always something neat going on. Its my Facebook. (I don't Facebook much past scca and marketplace)
