hey guys i was wondering how much it would be about from a good shop to paint the door jams engine bay and exterior the same as the factory color, or at least in the same color, maybe a darker shade

and then how much would it be to completely strip the car and get the entire chassis sprayed a new color?

thanks guys in advance

For a complete respray, painting the car the same color without repainting the inside, door jambs or any of that will run you $3500-4500 where I live.
But it may be cheaper if you don't have any interior in your car at the time. (as if you are restoring a car)

what if the engine was pulled and u wanted that and door jams done, any idea?

I would say quite a lot more. I couldn't give you a specific estimate. Sorry. Maybe someone that works at a body shop can chime in.

its factory black right now, if i went any other colors prob a dark blue or like porsche red
if i did black prob same black or a darker deeper black

and its already black so wouldnt it be cheaper to go black to fresh black or are they gonna sand it anyways?

lol ok what do you want painted? the entire car? engine bay and door jambs?

lol well if you keep it black and want to do everything on the car fix what ever needs fixing, if the surrounding clear is still good no need to base over it just blend the base and coat the rest of the car with clear.

at some point it might be a project but right now its my DD

For a full respray with the same color you are looking at around 5000 with the engine bay and door jams. If you want to change the color add atleast another 2500 to 4000 depending on the color. These are average prices for the Area my shop is in.

one of the guys on the rx7 forums said he was getting the outside sprayed for 1400, how the hell is he swinging that, a (insert word here) job? lol

For 1400 he is most likely going to get what is call a scuff and shoot. This is the cheapest form of a paint job you can get. A scuff and shoot is a quick sanding of the paint that is on the car and a repaint with a Single stage enamel paint in most cases.

A quality paint job is alot more involved and time consuming and that is why it costs alot more. Things like proper sanding, body work, bumper removal, headlight and tail light removal, spraying the car in primer. Some times 2 types of primer such as etching primer then a filler primer. Then sanding that all down and cleaning properly to remove dust and any contaminants. Which could cause problems such as fisheye, bubbles blisters or many other problems. After all that you are ready for base coat followed by clear coat.

So what should be done to pick the right body shop cause I know there's a bunch that do half ass and poor jobs so
