New Red Toy

Gary, now you need to bring it out to Las Vegas in March for Mopars at the Strip.

Nice! Sounds like you made out on your sale/purchase. Congrats Gary.

WOW what an amazing car. I love Vipers- especially red ones! Makes me wish I had finished college! damnitt!

Thanks again everyone. It's been a little cold for detailing in Florida today.

I just went out side and kicked my car thanks too you.

wytstang, why would you go kick your car? You better not go putting red paint on your white stang.

If you are running out of garage space you can park it over here!

Congratulations!!! have you ever thought about adopting a middle-aged son, i could take out the trash and put gas in the cars for you? :D

Very rare in solid red, let alone an 02' ACR. Ours still getting fixed. Did you check the shocks, the RD's stock were like 1100 lbs in the rear for spring rates, gotta love full adjustable suspension stock.

LT Headers, no cats, old style Borla exhaust and x-pipe in the rear is mandatory :)

Waiting to test drive 08', few people that have taken delivery have said its insane. Love that green with black stripes or new red with black stripes (new red is really rich looking), but the colors are being done in weird sets that change every couple months, not sure how tough it'll be to find one.

I going to get the car detailed to the best of my ability before I even consider doing anything else to it. I do the love the car the way it is. How come it taking you so long to get your car fixed Surfer?

Parts, Gen II's can take awhile, the pics you saw didn't show all the damage. right front suspension had to be replaced and we have Motons, hood, front end, side panel, wheel (those BBS wheels are damn near impossible to find and $). May sell or keep for track only since just lost a chunk of value :(, I want to get an 08' and also pick up the 09' CTS-V this summer.

I don't know how yours came, but how does it drive? If its too bouncy and harsh, swamp the rear springs for slightly softer Eibachs rate wise and adjust the shocks, 1100 rates are overkill on the street but good for track lol. Did it come with the booklet and key tool for the RD shocks, it should have.

Gary: super addition to the stable of fine auto's!

There are a couple of places on the Vipers that pads just don't want to go: the beginning of the hood naca duct...too narrow. and waaaaay into the body side venting. Other than that, it's a great ride with a duffel bag full of torque.

Have fun...it looks like I'm attending the Detail Fest 08 and hope to see you there.

Thanks alot Toto. I kept my old 02 Viper GTS detailed so know what your talking about. It is a fun car to drive with loads of torque. The car is in great shape including the paint. The only thing on the car that I would consider in bad shape is the wheel wells. The previous owner keep the car very clean except for the wheel wells. It looks like most of the time he did not wash them. I'm going to pull the wheels off tomorrow and see what I can do with them. I'm even thinking about trying to polish the wheel wells after I clean them up the best I can. Maybe I'll start a thread and see if anyone has tried polishing plastic wheel wells.

Toto, have you ever tried polishing the typical hard black plastic used on wheel wells? What do you think about trying to polish them? What would you use to polish them. I would think you should be able to buff the plastic out like new.

Actually, I've just finished a very nasty X5 that had really bad wheel wells. I scrubbed them with a soft nylon brush and full strength apc to remove all dirt. Then hand applied some Klasse AIO and buffed off. They look brand new and not covered with a greasy tire dressing. Once you get them clean, I think any decent liquid cleaner/wax will work.

Thanks a lot Toto. After I clean them the best I can I was going to try some Klasse AIO. If they don't look really good by then, I think I'll try polishing them with something. I'm not sure which polish I might try first. I want them to look new when I'm done.

Any APC or plastic type cleaner will work well, I used some Blue Magic Leather/Vinyl cleaner and then went over with AIO, that cleaner works great on plastics and vinyl/rubber type trim like window seals, nice otc product. But I hardly ever clean the wells on the Vettes and snake, rears are a pain in the ass, they see enough use lol.

Come on... get outta here, too cold:D... How did you ever survive in Michigan??

Nice addition to the stable!

I hated Michigan Winters. The only thing that kept me there was and money. It got to a point where the money didn't matter anymore so I moved to sunny Florida.

Keeping the wheel wells clean is easy if you always wash them even the rear wheels on a viper. I have long arms and brushes that work great. When you never wash them, then decide to clean them it is a pain in the a$$. If I would have purchased the car new they would have never looked the way they do now.
