New Rupes Microfiber Pads at SEMA

Francesco Ginocchio, the Marketing & Communications Manager at Rupes gave me some samples of the new Rupes Microfiber Pads to test out on the new Rupes Duetto 12 and the Rupes Mini 12...

Blue = Cutting or Correction Pads
Yellow = Finishing Pads

These look interesting. Curious how they perform compared to those already on the market. Hopefully they're available to buy soon.

They are of a unique whole construction design, that is there's nothing to come apart during use.

Marco told me they generate little to no heat at the surface of paint.

Those are two very good features to start with...

Assuming the whole construction design means one piece, if so that sounds promising to combat delaminating that is experienced more often than not with the Megs pads on the Rupes. And the little to no heat of course helps out a bit with that.

looks like it has minimal foam, just like megs new xtra cut mf disc.

Hmmm, another key element for me to see would be how best to clean these? Using compressed air looks to be the best option.

Interesting looking pads for sure.

I'm sure they cut and polish very well.

The demos the Rupes Team did all week as SEMA were killer!

They gave me the MF Pads at the beginning of the week but I didn't want to take away from the demos at their booth so when using the Rupes at our booth I used the foam pads which was just as impressive of a demonstration.

Can I get a witness from someone at SEMA that watched the Rupes polishers remove sanding marks all week long without missing a beat?

That's the idea and a good one at that.

Thin is in... especially when using tools that are not direct drive... thicker pads absorb and then dissipate the energy coming out of the tool, this shows up as reduced ability to maintain pad rotation.

We'll be showing compressed air to clean the MF pads during the Live Broadcast this Thursday night.

And you can see these pads in action and the final results from the below thread and live broadcast video. I'm pretty sure the first video on the net showing the new Rupes Duetto and Mini 12 polishers in action plus the MF pads as we shot this the week after SEMA when all these things were introduced.

No 5" love? I just ordered the 5" backing plate for my rupes 21 and was going to switch to 5" pads exclusively for it.

The backing material is 5 inches, making the 6 inch microfiber pad a perfect fit. :dblthumb2:

^ i'd like to know the same...are the worth the price tag matched with the rupes 21??

is it just me or you guys think these would be a mess to clean? It looks like the polish would gunk up in the middle of the holes.
