New shops...

In the past 2 or 3 months I have seen at least six new shops open in my area. I'm tempted to stop by and see some of there work, but have not yet. Whats going on around you? Any new shops or any closing?

In my small town I have noticed several detail shops popping up. I haven't taken my vehicle to any of them, but did take my boat. It had some fading on one side and was quite dirty. $160 and 4 hours later I picked the boat back up, took it home and ended up cleaning it more myself. They didn't open any of the compartments to clean the sides of the cushions, and he just put wax over the faded spots so after one week the gel coat was faded again. I get the feeling most of the "detail" shops opening in town are a wash/wax/vacuum/shampoo place and can charge $80-$120 because people don't know any better.

Sorry to hear you had a bad job done Tiff. I'm wondering how long some will stay open. And with work like that its only a matter of time.
