i have a 2008 gt500 kr and the paint is silver metalic .what i need to know is what kind of wax ie. sealant ,carnuba, i never had silver car before.i just want to look amazing. HELP
 
Remember prep is key to any vehicle looking great. Polishing will bring the paint alive. Even though it is new , I bet there is swirls all over it. I polished my Infiniti the day after I bought it.

You're opening a can of worms here asking that question! Sealant vs. Wax or which brand is best is a fast way to start a gunfight!

It all comes down to what gives you the look and appearance that makes you happy. Also you have to balance out looks vs. durability in the environment you keep the car.

Sealants have some a long way over the years. When they first came out they left something to be desired but the technology has gotten to the point where they are generally far more durable than a quality carnauba wax.

Everything else being equal (which it rarely is), a sealant is longer lasting and more reflective. A carnauba wax is reasonably long lasting and gives a deep, warm, wet look. All depends on what you prefer.

Another thing I take into consideration is the environment...if you live in an area of high pollutants, acid rain, etc., a sealant is a better bet. If I lived where my in-laws do in Arizona, I would choose a sealant as it would hold up better in that environment. As it is, my cars are garaged so I used a quality carnauba wax...durability isn't an issue and carnauba gives the look I want. On my daily drivers I use a sealant as they get driven every day in all weather.

As far as a good product for silver, my personal experience is Griot's Best of Show Wax. It was far superior in appearance to the wax I previously used and gave good durability. It made the original paint look like it was clear coated which it wasn't.

The real secret is proper finish preparation. If you don't prep the finish properly, no wax or sealant will give the best results. Wash it...clay bar it, use a mild polish then wax or seal it.

While I like Griot's, there are plenty of great products out there. Find the one you like and enjoy the car.

not trying to open up a problem. i know when you have more than 1 product it opens debate. i have bought from auto geek in the past. great products no doubt i will continue to buy from them.i know i had bad experience with sealer years ago but i did not know what i was doing . did not let it dry and tried to take it off.i was thinking it is wax. now this was about 20 plus years ago. lol so here is what i would like .1,easy to work with 2,will not damage or change the black trim white if i get it on them3 ,not hurt the race stripes. i would like a list to pick from .
now there are waxes for light and dark colored cars.

Here is my combo for silver,
After prep I use Klasse A.I.O. followed by 4Star UPP then after 18 hours for the sealant to cure I topped with Pinnicle Sauveran wax.

Optimum Poli-Seal, Optimum Opti-Seal, Optimum Car Wax. Makes for a durable and great-looking combination on a silver vehicle. Very cost effective, too.
 
Congrats on the new car!

As others have mentioned.. preparation is the key to a great finish.

I use Meguiar's #21 as my LSP.

i ended up buying the fourstar upp and pinnacle ssII. thanks to all that gave advice.
 
Can't go wrong with that combo, will really make that metallic paint sparkle. Great choice!
 
That car is sexy man. I bet you smile just thinking about it.

For that pretty silver, I would personally put down some Four Star UPP and maybe top with a flake complementing wax like DP MaxWax of Pinnacle Signature Series II. I am so jealous hehe. I would pay just to ride in it!
 
question ?how long to leave upp on before i take it off.or curing time ?
