New to detailing

Hey guys,
Fairly new here but been reading up and learning. Think I have down what I need to do but wanted to run it by and see. Ive got a 2016 Dodge Challenger. I want to give it a good detail before putting her to sleep for the winter. Here's my plans:

*Wash with two bucket method and dry with blower
*clay bar entire car
*use GG6 DA polisher with Megs Ultimate Polish to remove the very few minor swirls marks
*seal with Wolfgang deep gloss 3.0 sealant
*apply a layer of Megs gold carnuba wax for that extra pop

I'm not too far off base am I? Also what kind of pads should I use for the polish? Foam finish? Can I use the DA to apply sealant and wax too?

Hi, welcome to AutoGeekOnline! Congrats on the new Challenger.

Your list/routine looks pretty good.

Have you thought about doing a chemical decontamination process with an iron dissolving product?

What do you have on hand for pads? Yes you can use the machine to apply both the Wolfgang Deep Gloss paint sealant as well as the Meguiar's Carnauba wax.
 
Didn't know if I'd need chemical decon or not being so new and using clay?

I don't have any pads yet, was hoping for suggestions on that.

Yes, it is always a good option to chemical decon even if the car is new.

I prefer to use regular foam pads. Much easier to handle and more user friendly.

Pick up some Lake Country Flat pads. Make sure to match up the pads to the plate size. 5.5" pads need the 5" plate and 6.5" pads need the 6" plate.
 
Looks like a good plan.

A tip to save some time: no need to dry in between the wash/rinse and clay steps. You will be getting the vehicle wet again anyway when you clay it.
 
I woudn't top the wolfgang, it's an amazing product on it's own, if anything I'd add a second coat of it. Skip the Megs.

Another option is HD Speed, which is an exceptional AIO and top it with it's synergisitic brother HD Poxy. I love this combo. Skip the Megs Polish. HD Speed is amazing.

Looks like you're on the right track! Are you taking the car off the road for the winter? I second claying the car while it's still wet, saves some time. You can even use soapy wash water as lubricant. Chemical decon is really up to you.

How about some pics of your Challenger?

I may drive it on warmer days but for the most part yes. Don't want the salt grime on it, that's what the truck is for.

I need to take some current ones. These are shortly after I got it. I've tinted the windows and replaced the chrome fuel door with black since then.

*this is where you would decontaminate
*clay bar entire car
*use GG6 DA polisher with Megs Ultimate Polish to remove the very few minor swirls marks if the swirls are minor a light cutting or polishing pad will work; make sure you do a test spot to lock-in the process
*this is where you would remove the polishing oils from MUP so that they do not interfere with the sealant. You can use an IPA solution, mineral spirits or a prep product that is sole on AGO
*seal with Wolfgang deep gloss 3.0 sealant
*apply a layer of Megs gold carnuba wax for that extra pop This is fine, but most folks don't top WGDGPS. Some actually apply a second coat after the first layer cures

Quick question guys....I'm in the process of polishing now. It will be a day or two after I finish until I can put the WG sealant on. Car is sitting in a garage but obviously still gets a little dusty. Should I wipe it down with anything before I apply the sealant?
