New to detailing

Thanks for the details this helps me a lot.. The microfiber towel I currently have are autospa not peak I will definitely consider mango breeze.... one question would be if I use black light+vo7. Say I again wash it next week will need to apply it again? Will the coat be washed away... What wash technique I have to follow after the application and after how long should I again apply bl+v07?

Thanks,
Somu

No, after washing you do not need to reapply the BL + V07, it will not wash away. You should get months out of it. You can always reapply the BL + V07 anytime.

Mr sekharsomu,

A basic 'wash' will not affect Blacklight or v07 as both are synthetic 'sealants' and as such are very durable and tenacious; a significantly more aggressive approach would be needed to force either of these off over a short period of time.

v07 is more of a Quick Detailer so its longevity is significantly shorter than Blacklight as it has more lubricating agents for safely removing surface contaminants 'On The Go' or periodically in between 'maintenance washes' but it still is fairly durable.

The 'maintenance wash' is your 2BM, wash media and microfiber drying towels. This you can do in your 7-10 day routine you stated previously, and is safe as long you have the proper tools/chemicals. A proper wash routing will serve to ensure any Last Step Product you apply will protect for its full duration, and with some 'boosters' longer.

Blacklight should last 2-3 months or longer properly maintained, v07 is used as you see fit, more critically for removing bug strikes, bird bombs or other significant contaminants which require some emulsification for safe removal before they 'etch' or degrade the paint surface.

I hear you - I got caught up in their marketing gimmicks a few years ago. I blew a lot of money on a lot of crap from CG. They have a few good products but overall I'm not impressed.
:iagree:They have way too many products along with something "new and wonderful" every other day. Fortunately my skepticism kept me from buying into their "hype" so I didn't blow a bunch of money, but a little. They have a few very good products, but, it's too hit and miss for me to mess with them any longer.

Need any "Butter Wet Wax" or "Hybrid 07"?

Thanks a lot steve/cabrio and all others who responded...

so this helped me get a baseline on how to start after buying i did a 1 time wash and wax and not impressed with the result this my 3rd week with the car...

So as suggested i will go as follows

wash(2 bucket method)

dry (microfibre towels)

details(1st time with bl+v07 and there after for next 6 weeks quick wax+v07 after wash and then repeat the cylce) Will use separate applicator pads for BL

Does the above process look good as discussed. for exterior ?

One more thing i notice today morning in sun was there are light swirl marks will it be possible for me to take care of them my self or shuld i give to professional. what should be done additionally to handle them.

Mr sekharsomu,

The process discussed is fine, next step will be performing it, learning as you go and making it your own, determining what works best for you and what needs some tweaking to your satisfaction, everyone goes through the same process.

The swirls you 'can' fix yourself, however that opens another dimension of detailing, which was referred to earlier as 'paint correction', which requires abrasive pads and polishes and benefits from a machine, be it a Dual Action, Orbital or Rotary.

Correction is also doable by hand if you wish to save some money and have the fortitude, most here use machines for correction.

Blacklight has the designed in ability to 'hide' swirls, minor scratches/marring by utilizing fillers and as such is classified as a glaze. It does not however have the ability to physically level the paint surface so the imperfections will still be there, they just wont show until the fillers wear down.

Note though, that truly vibrant glossy paint comes from being as close to flawless as possible, if the underlying paint system has imperfections the final result can only get so good and it wont matter what is put on top.

Oh boy - yeah, this is a whole other topic. As previously stated, you can try to correct the swirls by hand but you won't get the results that using a polisher would achieve. You could pick up some polishing compound and try a test spot by hand to see how it works. Ideally, you would polish the car to remove as much of the swirls as you can before putting on the BL. Where are you located?

Hey steve/cabrio

No worries - This is a great forum so don't hesitate to toss more questions out there.

@OP. Eventually you'll get around to doing enough research into waterless washing and try 1 out. And if you're lucky you'll get your hands on 1 of the better ones [most WW products are of high quality and user friendly]
Then you'll realize how much easier life can be compared to dragging out the hose & bucket everytime you want to have your vehicle looking the way it outta everyday. [in a perfect world]

Except your situation requires even more of a hassle than the normL person, because you actually have to trek it to the car wash just to do that already time/labor intensive job of washing your vehicle...

You'll see 1 day. Meguiars D115.

Eventually as u said... i came to that ..my wife is not at all happy that i spending some $10 every week and a couple of hours every week on detailing for instance week to last week i have spent nearly 6 hours on detailing(wash+dry+clay+BL+V07+Mirror with gloss signature +vrp for tyres and rim+interiors(leather clean+conditioner+ inner clean for vinyl and plastics etc.. )).So i have decide that i would go full wash only once in a couple of months and switch to rinse-less for weekly.

i have decide to start with ONR

I need an advise here should i go with ONR or ONR wash & wax if i go with ONR WW can i use V07 on top of it to maintenance that shine (why i ask this question is wax should generally be that last layer generally since ONR WW has wax in it can i use v07 on top of it)

Did not receive a suggestion so went ahead with ONR WW(For now i wanted to only go with Rinseless but one of my friend is ok to try waterless so i suggested him UWW+ so i will also be able to observe those results)

What's wrong with The Absorber Chamois? Not defending or attacking the product its just that I have been using it for years without any issues and reading this has certainly caught my attention. It scratches? Damages? What? I'm new to the forum as well so this is what I signed up for. To learn.

The absorber drags dirt and does not catch any debris. It's best not to physically drag any object on your paint, to mitigate scratching. Blow drying is key.
