Little About Myself

-Live in California, USA
-currently in college (majoring in auto collision repair, basically auto body) and i am thinking of switching to auto detailing but my school dont have that as a major so i don't know if there are any requirement needed. so im guessing i should start at a car wash?
-Love washing and cleaning car. used to wash car once a week but not anymore due to water restriction. also just my first griot polisher for Christmas ^_^ with the Meguiar's paint correction kit.
-i am still a beginner with little experience

Learning auto body repair should make you a better detailer (in theory) because you will have a better understanding of everything from panel construction to paint characteristics.

There is a lot to learn about detailing but I believe your best bet would be to read books and watch videos.

There are 2 books that are must reads:

How to Start a Home-based Car Detailing Business, car detailing book, best auto detailing books

How to Start a Home-based Car Detailing Business, car detailing book, best auto detailing books

Mike also has several other books you might want to check out after.

On Youtube you can find a ton of Detailing videos about specific processes. Autogeek has a channel with a lot of good videos. Other channels that you can learn a lot from are:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYsa8SOy3TkoxI5D17s1u-w

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_oGAplgUK5fiMLzMruPXGQ

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5J5IuU4tD3xvw2rBqt2KUQ

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvqM4p5XKdXiug656WLmuOg

With those 5 channels you should have all the info you ever want and more about every aspect of detailing.

After that. it's a matter of getting gear and products and practicing as much as you can.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your training.
