Repainting a classic car....

Hi Guys:

I been busy and have not visited this forum lately. I just got a new past word to access the forum.

I got a problem. I brought my 280SL Mercedes-Benz that my dad Owen and expected around 25,000 to do a nice respray and some incidentals which were going to be off the car when it was painted and I had already purchased years ago.
instead I got a bucket of cool water dumped on my head . The owner's son, I think he was money hungrey and would not budge from $60,000 to do the job and that was not a rotestery restoration, all I wanted was a nice fresh clean coat of paint and some body work to freshen it up as a club drive for the week end events.

I live in the Long Beach area. My car is still in Escondido Sand Diego waiting my work to take some rust out of the left rear quarter panel and respray the back were the license pate goes. that is costing me arount $8,000 to do.

should I pull it out and research some body shops near buy? can anyone make a decent recommention. 20 yearss ago I had my 1982 ford mustang striped of all it molding door hand fron facia and it looked like a million dollars it cost then $6000 pus the new side molding and trim for the windows.

Hope there is still hope to bring my dad's car back to life at lease body wise.

Sincerely
Bob Geco
