New truck has water spots...plus a few other questions

not in the country. I'm 3 minutes away from Alexandria.

Haven't used the Pinnacle, but the DP is fantastic. I loved it so much that I bought more bottles. No offense, but after I drive my truck through a rain storm, I wash it. Im not looking for a tire gel or dressing that stays on forever. It does stay on very well even after driving through rain, but I was looking for the "look" when I bought it.

BOOYAH! Looks great. What DA polisher did you use?

So the rags you use to apply the products with don't come out blue like they are taking the paint off right?

I can remember a friend years ago using meguiars polish on his S10 truck the rags would be red(it was taking paint off). I want to say they found the clearcoat to be defective or something. Maybe its this memory that has me scared to use polish. Probably is.

Order them, or try some Megs stuff from walmart or auto places. M205, Ultimate line etc..

possibly M205. You would need to do a test spot. I do a test spot on every customer vehicle because some colors and manufacturers are different. Start with the least aggressiveness, then go up if the pad/polish combo isn't cutting it. Some times just changing the pad with the same liquid will help.

Sealant I would say Wolfgang or Menzerna Power lock.

I used a Griots Gen 3 with Lake country white and black pads.

the paint you are referring to is single stage paint or unless the clear coat is gone. You would definitely know that though. With a DA there is little to no chance of burning through the clear unless you are completely ignorant with it.

Before you tackle this, you might need to take it to a reputable detailer. After reading some of your posts. :props:

Easy podnuh. I'm here working on learning the proper way to detail the truck before I make any newbie mistakes to a 40k truck.

Thanks for the help so far. Any recommendations for getting water spots off the glass of the vehicle...same thing as the paint...pretty etched in.

Thanks got it. My truck is almost exactly like yours just not two tone. What do you use on the painted/colored plastics?

Treat it the same if it's painted. Light polishing with a 3-4 inch pad and then topped with sealant. I always wipe down my whole truck with car pro eraser to remove oils etc.
 
Tried hand polishing a test area(roof of the truck) using meguiars ultimate polish. What I noticed was that it went on easy but the removal of it was the hard part. Also didn't look like it took the water spots out(seemed to help some). It looks like it removed a bit of haze and shined the area up. So guys that are using a DA polisher are you using the polisher to remove the polish as well or doing that by hand. I may need to go to the UC then the UP. However, if I get a DA polisher I will probably try the UP first and see if it gives the results I want.
