After 16 years in my 2001 GMC Sierra, the vehicle that inspired me to learn the art of detailing, I decided to pick up a new 2017 Tundra SR5 TRD 4x4 in magnetic gray.
What recommendations can you guys give me to start with this truck? The paint looks really good, no noticeable micro marring. I have never had a brand new vehicle to work with.

Thanks much

After a thorough wash give it the baggie test and see if you need to clay.

That's the plan so far. Dealer had "sealant" applied, so hopefully an IPA wipe, or a light polish at the most will be all to remove it. I also need to assess my microfiber situation and decide if i should replace.

Yup, Citrus Park! Glad to have you here on AG! Gorgeous looking truck too. Best of luck with it.

I would do a strip wash, not so much alcohol, I've heard it can swell paint, also check with toyota about when you can start doing stuff to the paint, since its brand new

I'll check the build date on the truck.

Put a coating on it & if you want to take care of it put PPF (Paint protection film) on the full front of the truck.

As for checking with toyota if you can do stuff to the paint dont bother. that truck was built/painted months ago the paint has cured by now.

I started looking into coatings a few weeks ago. What are you guys using with the best durability?
What does the cost of PPF generally run? I'm not very familiar with it.

Hey, literally! Let me know if you'd like a hand with anything.

I am going on 7-8 months now with my McKee's 37 Paint Coating and love it so far. My car seems to stay cleaner between washes however haven't determined it's true longevity yet. I have the original formula and they have replaced it with the "new formula" claiming 2 years of protection.
