First, thanks for reading. I'm going to take delivery of a Toyota Tundra this week. My wife bought a '13 Highlander and I clayed it and waxed it. It's my opinion from observing it that Toyota has a soft paint job. Just my opinion comparing it to the clunker I just traded in. What would you guess I'll have to contend with with the Tundra? It will be parked outside. She gets the garage. A simple clay job and a wax or paint sealer or should I possibly have to polish it first? It's a Barcelona Red. Again, thanks for any tips.

I see more dark Tundras than any other vehicle with clear-coat failure on the roof and hood. If I had one of these I would look for products that at least claim to provide excellent UV protection. Optimum has multiple patents for this which doesn't prove anything but at least it is out there in the public record.

The patents are here: https://www.google.com/patents/US6669763 and https://www.google.com/patents/US6685765

I usually top all of our vehicles with Optimum Spray Wax.

Yes, my late great '98 Lumina (may she rest in peace) had that happen a few years ago. It was also the dark red they used. I had it repainted on the hood, roof and trunk. The rest of the vehicle looked fine. I'll check out the Optimum and other max UV protection. Thank you for the heads up.
