Just logged onto this forum for the first time. Name is Mike and finally settling into retirement where I will finish my project car. Looking for the right equipment to polish/buff the 30 year old lacquer paint which will be repainted in time, but it's still about a 12-14 foot paint job so I want to clean it up and beat the car for a while first.

Never buffed or polished before and am not afraid to buy the best stuff, though I also know that the "best stuff" isn't always what's needed or even helpful. But I am open to any thoughts on equipment and techniques. Paint has no orange peel but is scuffed in places and just not polished to a shine in places such as the rear valance.
Tried to upload a photo but just got an error.
Feed back please

I'm in Apache Junction. Spent some time in Gold Canyon until I found my house with a view and a place to build my shop. DONE!

The most common error is the file name has spaces in it. For exampel,

My car.jpg <--won't work. Your computer or phone might be able to read this as a picture but the "Internet" don't like spaces.

MyCar.jpg <--this will work. See how there's no spaces in the file name.

I upload hundreds of pictures each week and don't have any problems so it's usually something small.

That's the way I'm doing it but the reason is my megapixel is too much.

Could be there's a file size limit that prevents gigantic file from being uploaded as the hog up a lot of server space. I resize all my pictures before uploading using free software called, Easy Thumbnails but it's only for Windows platform.

I'm sure there's some sort of free software that resizes images on Mac computers.

Here's the link to Easy Thumbnails download page - scroll to the bottom.

And here's my article with pictures showing how to set it up after you install it.
