My mom has some mild holograms on her door panels. I'm not sure how they got there. Her hood, trunk, and fenders are all fine. I'm guessing it's the result of improper techniques from a detail she got last year.

I have:
PC7424xp
Meg UC
Meg UP
Meg ULW
XMT Fine Swirl Remover 2,
XMT Carnauba Finishing Glaze
LC CCS Orange, White, and Grey 5.5 inch pads.

Now, her car's paint is in pretty decent shape. The only issue I see are these mild holograms.

What combo of the above products would remove these holograms? I've never tried to do this before (I'm a joe schmoe consumer who wants his car to be awesomesauce by DIY methods). I feel like I can do this for her.

I was hoping UP, or XMT FSR2 followed by ULW or XMT Finishing Glaze would do the trick. I didn't really want to break out the UC, but I supposed I can make an entire day of it.

And sorry, I don't have pictures. I will say that her holograms are no where near as severe as the pictures Mike Phillips has posted here (maybe about 25% - 35% as severe):

Thanks all

Fear not with the Ultimate Compound, it's only as aggressive as you work it, (downward pressure), and as long as you work it, (it's a SMAT product, you can stop buffing at any point in the buffing cycle).

Here you go,

  1. UC/Orange pad - 6.0 Speed Setting
  2. UP/White Pad - 6.0 Speed Setting
  3. ULW/Gray Pad - 4.0 to 5.0 Speed Setting

Do a Test spot to dial in your technique and once you see good results, duplicate over the rest of the affected panel.

I demoed how to use the Griot's Garage polisher with a person brand new to machine polishing on a classic 1968 Firebird last night if you want to watch this video till it gets to the polishing steps.

Great! Glad I picked up the UC a few weeks ago then. I even picked up some 70% IPA and a 32oz spray bottle in preparation of needing to go all out on her car. She better pay me in Subway :)

Thanks for the response, Mike!
