What's up everybody? My name's Kevin. I'm very new to the world of detailing and want to learn more. Just got myself a Porter Cable D/A buffer for maintaining the appearance of my car and my fiance's. To me there is nothing more satisfying than looking at a clean car with awesome, swirl free paint and that is what I'm here to learn.

Hopefully I can get good enough at this and make a little money on the side by detailing friends cars and friends-of-friends cars. But for now I guinea pig off my own vehicles.

:welcome: To Autogeek Online Kevin!

Sounds like you're starting your journey in the same place where most of us do.... Our own, then our neighbors, and pretty soon you'll be looking at cars in parking lots and the ones you're passing in traffic!

Well maybe everyone except Mike Phillips.....I think he was born with a rotary in his right hand and a dual action in his left...

Yes, you've come to the right place!! :props:

Welcome!

You will find a tremendous amount of learning and information on this forum. I recently started with the PC 7424 and am pleased with the results.

One thing I learned is there is no "Perfect" combination of cleaner/polish/wax or ideal product brand. So much of it is dependent on what condition the car is in and a lot of personal preference is involved.

Look, listen and ask a lot of questions. Glad to have you on the forum.

I saw a black Mercedes S600 at an intersection on my way to work. They were heading south, I was heading west so the sun hit the car just right...and it was swirled to kingdom come. Made me cringe...then wanna help!

I drive an Obsidian Black Pearl '09 WRX and with it being my first black car I'm turning into an anal...well, you all know what I mean. ;)

I just took some extra good care of my paint over the weekend with what seem to be excellent results. No swirls and most of the scratches are gone. There are a couple I still need to work on but didn't really spend time on 'em. Just wanted to get the car in overall good shape.

Thanks for the welcomes and I will be surfing, reading and absorbing all I can!!

A couple products you will want to invest in are Menzerna PO85RD and gray Lake Country pads or crimson Lake Country Hydro Tech pads. This will allow you to keep maximum gloss on that sweet ride with very little effort. Do you enjoy frequent waxing or would you prefer something that will last? The reason I ask is because you have several options for waxes that will enhance your pearl or permanent solutions that will allow you to basically rinse off grime.

Great wax choices in my opinion:

Wolfgang Fuzion
Pinnacle Signature Series II
Detailer's Pro Max Wax
Sonax Premium Class Carnauba Wax
Collinite 476

Sealant choices:

Duragloss #105 Total Performance Polish
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0
Menzerna Power Lock
Optimum Opti-Seal
Ultima Paint Guard Plus

Permanent solutions:

Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0
CarPro CQuartz

This is not an all inclusive list, just some really nice products that Autogeek carries. I'm certain other members will chime in with their recommendations.

:welcome: Aboard Kevin! You have come to right place to take care of that ride! Like Mike P. said join in the fun!!!!!
