I have always been picky about my vehicles....keep them washed and clean.

3 years ago I bought a new Mustang Cobra convertible just to ride for pleasure and take to shows. What I found out was that I didnt know as much as I thought about car care. I always used OTC products and was satisfied.

When I started entering car shows, I saw products and results I never knew existed. Now Im trying to "Step it up" and learn and use better products.

Believe it or not, Princeton WV is not exactly the car detailing capital of the world! LOL

there a couple of choices for show car care :

1. Use a cooking oil (cheating)

2. Detail properly using each step from washing--claying--polishing--protecting

3. Pay a professional in area.

If you choose 2, then look at the AG site and bookmark the area for detailing 101. You can study each subject and use/reread when needed. Then ask us for hints. Welcome !!

Your experience is not uncommon but at least you knew the difference.
I see some newbies that come to a show and don't understand why they didn't win.
They are not critical enough about detailing to know the difference.

If you talk to the guys at the show they will tell you what they are using but don't get to believing that the LSP is going to be a magic bullet.
The main difference is in the procedure how you prepare the finish and pay attention to the smallest of details.
Some judges will look behind the fuel door or fold the seat forward to see if you vacuumed behind it.
The things that someone in a hurry doing their DD would miss.
