Hey folks,
Just joined the AG Board and wanted to say "hello" is all.
I'm a stay-at-home-dad who's neglected the paint on both family vehicles for quite awhile (the wife's 1993 Honda Accord EX, and my 2001 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4X4).
I used to take good care of my cars and their paint when I was much younger and had more free time years ago... but that kind of time these days is pretty scarce around here.
Recently, I got on a kick and started wanting to refurbish the paint (as best I can) on my Expedition. It's never really had any sort of TLC done to it other than the occasional car wash/spray wax etc. so the paint is looking rather dull.
I began by using some rubbing compound on the roof by hand (out of a can), then waxed it with paste wax in a few sections... then realized just how much work this was going to be. I'm not the 20-something kid with the little VW Bug anymore than can do all of this by hand in my leisure time. This is hard work and standing on a 6' step ladder no less to reach the roof!
In an effort to save time, and make the work easier I decided to buy a polisher and well... one thing led to another and that's where this whole thing took a turn and I ended up here at Auto Geek. (More on all of that in another post)
Anyway... hope to be able to learn a lot from all of you more experienced detailers out there... Thanks in advance!
