Hi-

i joined AGO about 3 months ago and this site is amazing for detailing. i haven't posted anything because i spend hours and hours reading about products, howto's, tips... lol. I spent about $400 on products on my 1st order and now i want more (want to buy a polisher!). I'll just be detailing my my own vehicles and maybe a friends.

Thanks to all the pros who take time from detailing to help out guys like me.

Hey welcome from VA! When I made my first purchase you would have thought I was expecting it to be Christmas morning. Well since you are doing your own cars, are you looking for a simple polisher like the Porter Cable DA, or maybe an intermediate like the Flex ,,, or last.===a big ol' Rotary!

Thanks everyone!

I've been reading threads on which polisher and polishes would be good for a beginner. I think for polishes I’ll be going menzerna but for a polisher still deciding. PC? Flex? Most threads say if you have the extra $$$ go with the Flex , you won't regret it. But i've also read that the flex may have some issues with the backing plate. Porter Cable is a very dependenable maker. Which leads me to 2 questions:

1.Is the Flex still the way to go?

2. Which menzerna products would be best for my cars? SIP and NANO?

My Cars:
05 Chev Silverado (Red)
06 BMW 330ci Conv (Black)
04 BMW Z4 (Blue)
01 Mer CLK320 (Silver)
69 Camaro SS (Cortez Silver)

Thanks Again!

SIP, 106FA nad 85RD will be what you want. All 3 will work fine for all those cars. most flex issues were from people not tightening the backing plate bolt enough. When that is loose and you put pressure on a angle, well, you know the outcome of that. I have never had an issue with mine. Keep it tightened and lube the felt ring.

Hey man, welcome; I'm also in SA. Look through the threads for Anthony Orosco. He has a place w/Ron Harris over at Wurzbach & Babcock. Those guys are simply awesome at detailing. They'll share evything you know.
