Hi everybody. Ben around this site for a while reading all I can trying to get as mush info as I can. Need help in deciding which products to use, does anybody have any ideas on where to start? I know I would like to use a orbital to get started with but don't know which one is the best the PC or the Flex XC3401. I have a 2003 Ford Windstar that looks like it lives in a briar patch it has so many swirl marks. So looking forward to everybodies advice. And one more thing is there a thread that shows all the abbreviations yall use? Thanks in advance!!

Welcome, as for which machine the answer is, how much do you have to spend? Well go from there.
 
Around $325.00 for the orbital. I have been looking at car care kits on AG and was thinking about going with one of the exterior kits. Would this be a good idea or should I buy the orbital first and then one of the exterior kits? Thanks
 
Well the Flex has greater correction abilities then the PC. The Flex also works faster being the stronger of the two. I wanted faster results so I have upgraded to the Flex. Looking at the Flex exterior kits the Wolfgang offers everything you need to get the van swirl free

Looking at the PC kits
Menzerna kit, 5.5 lake country pads, porter cable menzerna kit, ceramic clear polishing kit, Mercedes polishing kit
But it has stuff you can do with out. You may be able to piece the kit together minus the Wool pad, and Pad cleaner stuff. It may save you few bucks. The PC kit has what it takes to remove swirls, it may just take longer.

If you're going to go with a DA type polisher, there's no need for a wool pad. Orange is the most you will need, maybe yellow if your paint is severely oxidized. My advice would be to look into getting the Menzerna 5.5" pad kit because that's the best polish you're going to find on here. I started out with Pinnacle XMT because I didn't know any better. You can get a lot for $325. Keep in mind you're going to need around 5 pads for each color that you get, the polishes, LSP, clay, MF towels, and some car wash shampoo. That's a good starter's list for the exterior to get your car looking nice. Have no fear...we here at AG can definitely spend other people's money haha. Welcome to the forum and your new disease. From here on out you will be addicted to this stuff :D.
 
Looked at the Flex/Menzerna kit and have one question. Will this work on a 2003 Ford clear coat?
