newbie here :) this is my first shopping list

I wouldn't use CG V7 as a QD, at it's price point and it's functionality, it's better suited as a post-wash sealant/drying aid. Even if I kept my car in a garage, I still think QDing (or waterless washing) every week would inevitably create some marring. If I want to clean up the car in between my weekly rinseless wash, I'd pick up a dedicated QD, ONR seems lacking in slickness at QD dilution, even compared to Meg's OTC QD.

- Correct.
- Seal with BFWDAFPP.
- Top with Dodo Juice or wax of your choice.
- Weekly ONR rinseless wash. I'd suggest either using Garry Dean's method with a large number of MF towels, or at least 2 separate MF chenille mitts so that one can be dedicated for the lower panels of the car. Hell, even a third mitt or separate towels for your wheels too.
- Once every 2-4 weeks : Traditional 2BM wash with shampoo (I got some 1Z Exclusiv on BOGO and my god is that shampoo rich). DG901 is popular too. This is so you can get areas that you wouldn't normally get or get as thoroughly with a rinseless or QD, such as tires, wheel wells, jams, etc..

I'd reapply my sealant every 3-4 months just for good measure. Probably closer to 3 months just to play it safe.

On track with claying every 4-6 months however.

i did see that.. only ++ reviews.. but i figured for the $ it was worth a try. thank you for your recommendation i will read about the M105+M205

My car is out all day every day. i live in San Diego, CA and my car is never clean.. i see reviews for the V7 are mostly positive..what dedicated QD would you recommend? also, I was seriously looking into the waterless because the consensus is that this solutions have more lubricity than QD's (keep reading it over and over). more specifically i was looking into the UWW+
i would like your take on that.

I've only been at this for about 6 months now and the only actual QD I've used was Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer. Once I got my ONR I tried that at the suggested QD ratio and it just doesn't seem slick even compared to the Meg's. The Meg's QD is also easy to find on sale/in clearance at target/wal-mart/etc. It's only $7 on AGO and Target sells it at $8-9 if it's not on sale. Basically, I've avoided rinseless washes so I don't know where to point you. I like having a bottle of QD on hand in the car for bird droppings, smudges, etc... But if I'm doing the whole car it doesn't get anything less than a rinseless.

that qd is for interior not exterior ^ / there is no real thing as a quick detailer for the interior although some try to market it, especially innerclean as cg markets it as a quick detailer for your interior

Doh! How did I miss that?

It's this stuff, comes in the clay kit :

yeah that qd is good, the smell is awesome, granted there a better alternatives, nothing wrong with that qd, that bottle seems to last forever, I've used to for claying (3 cars iirc) , qd, touchups, and mainly pad prepping, and still have some left in the bottle lol

@OP, what vehicles(year/make/model/color) are you mostly planning on using these products with? The condition of the vehicle really determines what compound/polish would be best suited for your needs. Either the Pinnacle or Wolfgang Twins would probably suit any paint you plan on correcting. And would is the cut of the pads you purchased? Menzerna products are a great choice as well. But, remember, whatever products you choose always do a test spot starting with the least aggressive polish and pad. Also, don't do like a previous member did recently and do the whole car, then check your work. Inspect your work panel by panel with good lighting. Don't assume you made a section perfect without inspecting in various spectrums/tones of lighting, e.g. incadecent, halogen, xenon, etc.
As far as QD, I feel that it is hard to beat 303 Speed Detailed. This stuff is like a spray wax and waterless wash in one, yet so much more. It leaves the surface very slick like it was just waxed. I have yet to test it diluted with water to see if it still performs as well but, I have a case of it, so I have plenty to experiment with. It is for very economical, if not one of the most economical ready to use QDs.

i have an 08 g35 sedan metallic gray (K52) . the paint is semi-horrible with webs and swirls.. it was never cared for. i was in an accident a while back and the shop that did the work had to repaint the front right fender and half the passenger's door to blend it in. they did a reaaaally s*itty job and did not blend it properly, so it looks like it's two different colors. I never complained so I'm stuck :/ I don't know if i'll be able to anything about this but i'll try . they used the same color as OEM but maybe the clear they applied was too tick..
anyhow.. I'm learning to better take care of my cars and I need a hobby to get me out of the house and do man stuff (no offense to the girls).
I'm saving up for a new car next year or two and I want to be ready :)

I think i'll be using a UWW+ instead of a qd, but if there is a combination of the two i could try i'd like to hear your thoughts.

Thank you

I decided to Buy this polishing combo kit as well :
M105 + M205 + PO85RD

I use v7 as a qd. I bought it by the gallon so it'll take a long time to use all of it.

Sorry to thread jack, but is V7 good to top BFWD after every wash?

According to autogeek they said to cover with a wax instead ( I had this same question) . V7 Is on a weird category of its own- between qd and drying aid or something... Call them and ask :)

I've a sneaky suspicion your 08 G may have "self healing" paint. There have been many discussions on how problematic that paint is, both from how to buff, and how to repair. Which based on what you are saying about the repair, the body shop wasn't equipped to deal with properly. :dunno: One thing about insurance repairs is they all tend to give you a lifetime warranty. Then the shops also give you a warranty. In this instance I'd use it! ;) If it is indeed the paint that the shop messed up I'd hound the insurance company and tell the you want it repaired elsewhere.

Back several years ago my daughter had body damage on her G6 GTP repaired at the local GMC/Chevy/Pontiac shop. Well someone ended up sitting in the car with a tool in their left rear pocket and poked a hole in the two-tone leather seats. Right after she picked it up she called me crying, freaking out, not knowing what to do. Called them right away and we went back down there the next morning to show them the hole in the seat. They tried to say she did it and were not interested in taking responsibility for it. I got Nationwide involved, ended up with a Regional Supervisor coming to inspect it. She told them they needed to repair it, while they said "If you authorize the repair we will". That meant Nationwide would be paying for a new seat cover, not the shop. Nationwide DID pay, and the shop lost it's repair contract which cost them over 100.000 bucks a year! Seems a $275.00 seat repair would have been a lot cheaper huh.

I caught up a bit with what you've been planning and honestly I can't see putting that much work into the paint over and over. One good buffing / compounding per year is PLENTY. The 105, especially with the PC is likely to give you fits. It works great, really great, but has a ton of cut which with the "self healing" paint will be waaaaaaaaaaay more than you need. Might have a search or two on it here, seems I remember reading a couple of places where Mike dealt with it. (Perhaps over on MOL as well.) A really great substitute for 105 is Megs UC, almost as much cut but works forever. You can actually see the polishing oils in the paint when it's done a couple of secton passes! :)

With something like 205 you might hit it once every spring, then the first day of winter. It goes on great and comes off smooth. The WG twins have also been touted as a great go-to.

I +1 on an earlier comment that you buy it a little at a time. One of the coolest things about AG is getting that 'free sample' every $50 purchase. While they don't tend to throw in one with EVERY 50 increment, once you hit the free shipping point they'll throw an extra in here and there. ;) So rather than a $500 order, just make 4 smaller ones and get a lot of samples. :) Besides, you are gonna' need a ton of pads to get the hang of the machine as well as the different products. :xyxthumbs:

Oh, the ONRWW is yummy! I've used both ONR and ONRWW for QD. The WW is by far a better deal in that instance. Not sure I like it better than several Meg's choices, but I do like it.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write all that :) I had no idea about the self healing properties of my car . I will send mike a pm to see I he can advice me .. As far as the insurance , tbh I was insured by a really questionable company and I paid the price of getting cheap insurance :/ .. That was about two years ago but I would if I could .
I don't know why I didn't post this thread earlier before buying it all .. But keep in mind I had been contemplating and reading since September last year and had saved up to buy all at once when I was ready to get my hands dirty :) .. I will learn from my mistakes and others . From this single thread I've gather so much info that I'm speechless about member's collaboration. Most importantly I learned that my entire process planning was all wrong. In hope of finding the perfect balance to my journey I will practice on my girl's car .. A 2004 civic that has no hope of ever being a show car but is the most reliable pice of transportation I've known .i don't mind spending a bit more on the good stuff because I skip a lot of luxuries and this Is something I could at some point put on a resume for extra points (jk).
Thank you for the advice :D

btw cardaddy . i looked into the "self healing" paint on G's and it says it started shipping on 09 models :)
also, I'm planning to spend at least a full weekend doing the polish/finish.. section it off in 20x20 pieces and hit each one individually.
quick question tho.. can i polish one day and finish/cover another? or do i need to cover as soon as possible... i figure i can do an alcohol/water wipeout if i let it sit till next day.
