Next week I'm taking delivery on a new silver 2010 camry. It will be an every day car to and from work. 75 miles round trip on the highway.

I would like to protect the paint on this new car and I was wondering what steps I should take. Based on some of my research here on the forums, I believe I should clay the car, seal it with two coats, and then put a wax on it.

Assuming this is the proper steps, what would be good seal and wax products to use on silver?

Keep in mind I will be doing this by hand.

Thanks, appreciate any help or ideas I can get.

Congrats on the car.

I would say to wash the vehicle, then clay it.

Then, apply a coat of Klasse AIO, then top it off with a sealant, such as Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant (DGPS). One coat of DGPS is nice, but two is even better. Then once every few months, do a coat of Klasse AIO and then a coat of Wolfgang DGPS.

If you want to use a cheaper sealant instead of DGPS, go with something like Optimum Car Wax which is really easy to use.

Wash, clay, Duragloss 601, then Duragloss 105, then Duragloss Aqua-wax.

great on that lighter silver toyota color.

Thanks for the input all.

In regard to the PB white diamond, do you follow it up with a layer of wax? How well does it stand up?

Thanks!

Yes, follow it up with Wolfgang Sealant. Allow to cure for 12 hours if you can. This will yield outstanding results. If you want to be blinded by the light, apply liquid Souveran after that. (I've tried Souveran paste but it just doesn't seem to go well over white diamond...who knows maybe it's just me.)

Aqua Wax is a great finish to any of the methods mentioned here. Sometimes I just go buy a bottle when I dont even need it. And the bottles work well for Spray and Wipe when they are empty.
Im the MAN

I agree with killrwheels - keep it as clean as you can!

Bear with the newbie here guys. I'm a little confused.

Killrwheels recomendation is to wash-clay-polish-protect. Then recommends Pinnacle Sig. Series II wax kit. Which looks to be carnuba.

Question 1. Is the Pinnacle the polish phase, or the protect? Or both?

Question 2. I have gathered that Carnuba doesn't last long and that a sealant would last longer. But the sealant can be topped with Carnuba for added shine. How well will the Pinnacle that Killrwheels mentions hold up? Should I seal first and then use the Pinnacle?

Thanks!

Thanks folks---for helping me out.

Here is what ended up with. Wash-Clay-PB White Diamond-DGPS 3.0. x 2 coats - Haven't put the Liquid Souveran yet.
