Newbie Question

I am relatively new to the detailing process. I have always been a wash and wax kind of guy, but have discovered how nice I really can make my ride look with all of the new products, processes, and techniques.

I recently acquired a friends used random orbital Porter 7424 (old model). He threw in a second backing plate and a couple of pads. I am planning to order more pads, but I am not sure what size pads I should order for my two backing plates. The backing plates physically measure 5" and 6" in diameter. Does that mean they will accommodate 5.5" and 6.5" pads, respectively?

Yes you are correct

5" Backing Plate 5.5" Pads
6" Backing Plate 6.5" Pads

Stick with 5.5" pads, and thin ones at that.
