Newbie ready to buy the 7424 but polishes?

Hello All,

OK I am new here and we live in Northern Michigan (salt ect). I am sold on the 7424 and I believe that Autogeek is where I will buy but I am looking for what set of cleaners, polish or combination I should buy to clean and give the shine to a 07 black Rubicon and a 06 red F-150 I should use. I will also tell you that I do custom painting to antique radios to match my customers Harleys and street rods. I have a PC orbital sander that I would like to use the same pads on it is hook and loop and I use automotive paints and clear so I would like to get the same mirror shine that on those items as well as my autos.

So tell me what I need to spend my money on.

If you want the best polishes...I would go Menzerna....get the Super Intensive and also get the PO106FF....that will be all you need...

also to use the pads for your rotary from the PC just get a plate to match the pads you have....if they are 6 1/2 inch pads get either a 6 or 5 inch plate....I like the 5 inch..gives me excess pad on the edges to have a safety zone while buffing incase I come close to mirrors..wiper arms....but thats me....

I have a Ford Truck in Red..and with these polishes you will have a gloss you will not believe....if ther paint is not in bad shape you may just get away with the PO106ff at first..but best to get both incase....

Hello All,

Thanks for the help on the Menzerna. It looks like a great product. They mention in the Menzerna site here to use a product called Wolfgang paint sealer.Is this necessary to finish the job? Remember Northern Michigan salt sand ect.

no..you can use any sealant you want....I would reccomend using Duragloss 105 if you live up north..thats what I use for winter here..its good durability for the winter....its a very good sealant and has very good looks to it...

buy the Poorboys kit with buffer ... best value and everything needed to make all cars look great, and easy to use also. Add in some soap, a couple extra towels, and paint sealant when wanted.
 
I'm curious. Why did you end up choosing the 7424? I would probably go for the UDM being that it is an enhanced version of the 7424.

First of allI am a huge PC fan.But,the biggest reason was so many products tell you how to apply with the PC. A few more $ but a quality tool I will never have to buy another one and great product research that has already been done.

I guess I just feel that it is the orbital that everyone tries to compare itself to that alone to me means quality.

I see your point. Tried and tested product would make sense. Well, I bought the 7424 right before the release of the UDM and now I'm going to be picking one up. The 7424 is still an excellent machine, but I do look forward to the less vibration that the UDM has over the 7424. Look forward to seeing some of your work.
