Hi Folks,

New to this whole car washing and detailing world. Yes I said car washing never did much washing before...

Ran into AutoGeekOnline site from wanting to clay bar my old cars and giving them a proper wash and ending up buying the following. All thanks to the many resources Mike Phillips provided from the forum and videos. Also the Boss (reads WIFE) doesn't know yet...

I wanted to know if I missed out on anything my goal is to clean up and catch up on years of deferred maintenance and neglect on the listed family vehicles below (large family):

Acura RSX 2003 - good but small patch of clear coat failure on top of the car center (blue color)
Honda Accord 1996 - Serve clear coat failure (black)
Toyota 4Runner 1996 - good condition but not regularly washed (funky coffee color)
Toyota Tacoma V8 2001 - many minor scratches (white)
Toyota Tacoma 2010 - really beat up with mud, dirt, concrete and scratches and dents (gray)
Also a new Honda CR-V 2015 that I want to just keep the paint happy. (Silver)

Here's the impulse buying I went through over 3 separate purchases. What I want to know if there's anything I'm missing to complete my task above and maintain these vechicles?

:help:
-Do I have enough pads to keep working without washing them between polish?
-Feels like I might be over buying on things, does the Klasse All-In-on works or replaces the Megiars M205 or can I use both?
-I didn't buy anything for the interior for now I figured I'll just vacuum and keep is simple
-Let's say I get all the cars looking as good as they can, how often would I even use the M105 or M205? Or is it just a carwash, clay and KAIO+GS for the rest of the car's life?
-Do I really need a Porter Cable for the 3-4 inch areas?

-Looking foward to learning from everyone here. I'm afarid to look at more videos, I just keep buying things! BTW are the 3M edge adapter for the Flex 3401 ever going to come back?

First welcome to AGO :welcome:

NEXT yes you have more than enough pads, but you need to start on something other than one of the nice cars. A practice panel from a Junk yard perhaps.

Then,
As to your question about repetition of polishing by the likes of Megs 105 or 205:
you'd only polish a car if it absolutely needs it 'cause everytime you do you'd take a little off the paint (that is if one knows what he is doing, if they don't they could take much more than just a little and damage their paint rather quickly).

Hopefully you bought guides & videos like the ones by Mike Philips to take you through the stages of working on a car?
If not I'd say do yourself a favour & get them before starting on a car.

Familiarize yourself with the ideas (theories) of working on paint starting with the least aggressive (most cautious) steps first and moving very gradually from there.

You may need paint & wheel fallout removers like IronX or similar.
Don't ignore the interiors as they need to match the exterior for a car to look good.
Also Tires, wheels, & trim need cleaners & protectants.
Good luck

One question to add is when would I want to use the 6.5 inch pad that came with the Flex?

Welcome to AGO. I think your going to find that the 5 inch pads are the way to go. I think your ok on the pads. I would get quite a few more microfiber towels. Something you can never have too many of.
The 6.5 inch pads you might be able to use on the trucks, larger flat panels, you may find that you like the feel and control of the 5" pads.

Congratulations on the order...nice first order!!

Welcome to AGO!! You have an awesome set-up!! IMO, get used to the 5" Hybrid Pads w the 4" Lake Country Backing Plate 1st. It is easy to control and very smooth. You will reduce "walking" with the 5" Pads.

I would start using the 6.5" Pads when you feel more comfortable with using the Flex 3401.

I did not see that you have the Lake Country Backing Plate System for the Flex 3401. I am assuming you do have it. The 4" Backing plate will be perfect for the 5" Hybrid Pads.

You will cover more area with the 6.5" and will reduce your correcting time too. However, get used to the Flex before you tackle the 6.5" Pads.

BTW, IMO you are ready to rock!! :buffing:
