Newbie: Which sealant/wax are you using on your black car?

Souveran on top of Z-5 will not make the finish cloudy or create any sort of discoloration. Put it this way, Z-5 is designed to use alone. Souveran is designed to use alone. When you put then together they do not compiment each other. Its had to explain, but there is a reason why most people dont top Z-5. Its just doest look good. I have metallic black paint, with a hint of purple in the color. When I used Z-5 and Souv. it was just flat black. It did not let the color stand out. (muted the paint)
Just experiment for yourself, and you will see what I am talking about.
Killrwheels could explain this better. He has tryed alot of sealant/ wax combos.

Liquid Souveran Spray = Booster product

I too have noted that unless the car is flat black (no metallic) you wont find an appreciable difference in topping with a carnauba. Sealants in general seem to have some reflective or amplicative (is that a word ??) polymers that enhance the cars finish.

Problem is the sealant still cannot make or show wetness, it instead uses gloss. So topping a flat black car with carnauba adds back in that wetness and glow we all miss. For the metallic blacks the carnauba doesnt cloud or mute the metallic , it seems to hamper the reflective qualities of the sealant below it.

By flat black I assume you mean simply non-metallic ? I have Jet black BMW and have been doing Souveran and just ordered Wolfgang sealant to use under nuba? Is this now the wrong way to go for the best look ?

correct .... I have used Wolfgang/Souveran on black but did not find it to be what I wanted. I wanted the crisp reflective quality of the black (Four Star) and the wetness (Souveran paste) as a more inviting combo.

Using Wolfgang, Fourstar, or DG105. looks awesome on my metallic black car.
You cannot go wrong with topping most of the sealants offered from AG.
Many of them recommend using a wax to increase the wetness.

I am way too confused. All that I have been reading on the forum is that topping Wolfgang with Souveran was the way to go. Now I understand that it is not the best for the liquid mercury look that I like... BTW, I apply Menzerna glaze and then Souveran paste once a month, use Souveran spray wax after wash and qd with Crystal mist everytime someone breathes on my car. Do I really have any reason to use a sealant ?

absolutely not !! Only thing you might wanna try (and I mean try) is Red Moose Glaze versus Menzerna Glaze, its a little wetter looking but we are splitting hairs.

Ok, so your saying sometimes a Sealant/Wax combo isn't always the best and can mute some finishes. But, some sealant/wax combo's do work great and do have great reflective and wet look properties and compliment each other.

Best result = Four Star UPP topped w/ Souvern Paste, correct?

I'll be ordering the two soon, stuff's not cheap!

U got it four star, and souveran paste is a great combo.
It is expensive, but it should last you a long time.

When did AG start carrying 4 Star again ?

been back for months, only a small window where owners changed and tried to jack prices. ;)

IS the UPP "spray" a strong enough stand-alone sealant or is it more of a booster to "liquid" UPP

actually its both ... I have heard great praises on UPPS alone. I used it on top of UPP before getting the polycharger and switching to Z8.

I think that if you let it cure for full 12 hours, and if applied to a dry suraface, washed with a gentle shampoo you will get about 1 month of durability from that spray version along. UPP liquid will last longer (3+ months) on it's own.
