This past weekend I worked on my buddy's car.

Paint was very bad!!! Car was taken through the drive-thru car wash a couple times in its day. He only wanted to do a 1 step for time and money reasons so I think I got pretty good results with the time I had to work with.

I got a good laugh out of my test spot.

So I tape off my test spot, polish it up with the D300, turn my light on... as I stare at my test spot. Bring my GF over to have her stare at it with me too.... I say "for some reason it has a blue hue to it" "I think I did something wrong!!". Go to take a picture of the test spot to ask a friend if he's seen anything like it. My flash reveals the car has blue sparkle in it. :props: I thought it was jet black because the swirls were so bad you couldn't even see the sparkle.

Products used:
Meg's Gold Class wash
2 bucket w/grit gaurd
LC grout sponge
Meg's clay kit
D300
Meg's MF pads
A little M105 mixed in on some deeper swirls
CG EZ glaze
CG BL
Pete's 53'

Total time spent:
7hrs

Nice turn around. I'm doing a TL in the same color in a couple weeks that is just as bad, if not worse.

Keep up the good work

wwwoooowwww!!!! Fantastic job on the car man!!! Thanks for posting!

That thing looked like it visited the car wash daily. Great turn around!!

Haha...I have an '08 Accord with this same paint scheme. It looks good when it's clean, but it'll swirl if you talk bad about it anywhere within a 5mi radius. I was the "of course I take care of my car, I take it to the car wash every week" guy too, so I know how dramatic a correction on these can be. I used to think she was so clean...then I looked down into the paint at a gas station one night...HHOOOOOOHHAAA...gonna need a correction.

Thanks AG!

Thank you for all the kind words. Yea that paint is extremely soft. And I can see it being all swirled up in no time.

I offered them a weekly or bi-weekly wash and wax package but didn't seem like they were going to go through with it.

My friend has an '03 Accord and I swear it'll swirl if you give it a hard stare.

Good work, Morphiusrt :props:

I've got a black 2011 Dodge Charger and just looking at it gives it swirls. I try to live with the fact that as a daily driver, it's just going to have some (not a lot, but some) swirls. Sigh.

It becomes easier when you accept swirls and light scratches as an inevitable part of owning a daily driver. Even if you have a perfect washing technique that produces no blemishes there are still many other factors that will spoil your efforts; things like people or other things brushing up against your car, clearing snow off your car in the winter. Hell, even driving on the highway is punishment on the finish.

Nice! I had a Civic that was Nighthawk Black Pearl. I swear one winter it got swirl marks from driving while it was snowing.

Are his rear tires inflated? They almost look like they are off the wheels!
