every Sony unit that sells is currently listed at a 450.00 to 600.00 initial loss to Sony. That said ... they do make it up on games. Ever wonder what that extra 10.00 is to the bottom line, billions. (games from 49.99 - 59.99 curr)

I dont agree with Sony's tactics either ... especially after commenting on the same issue when the 360 was released last holiday season. Fact is, they want to create demand , and thats why the addtl 600,000 was only released to stockholders ears prior to launch. As for playing PS1 and PS2 games, I truly wish it would NOT. I want the best possible technology, for the smallest price, and really fail to see the need to look back at anything other than late 80's Heavy Metal. (hahaha)

I guess then you shouldnt buy the Wii because other then the crazy (awesome) controller, one of its selling points is it can play all the old nintendo games + others from back in the day. So I guess to each their own.

my age places me well above the median or extended age of Nintendo groupies. That said, I have owned their stock. Wanna guess how much Sony I own ???

And yes the controller will make/break the Wii system, interesting offering. I still have the last Nintendo Cube all sealed , never opened, from the first offering. Sealed game, Diehard, also. Sitting next to my sealed TurboDuo ....

You don't have to use just the new controller. You can use the the Gamecube controller and a new dog-bone controller thats just like the on SNES controller......except it has analog sticks!!!
