was helping my aunt move and was going through all her stuff and found a tin of Johnson's Auto Wax. this is the same Johnson's company that makes pledge as well as other products we all know. now i know why they advertise pledge can be used on auto's and motorcycles. this tin is labled copyright 1945. just thought this was an interesting find. and yes i know the little stand it is on is filthy. lol

Wow. Cool find. Doesn't look like it's ever been used, or used very little at best.

Nice find, wonder if you can still use it. lol

i got a car i am gonna try it on. just gotta get the time and use of my mom's garage to get out of this colder weather we have had lately

Guess it worked better on furniture, so they changed the name to Pledge.

Super cool find! My bet is it will not be as easy to work with as current waxes! Lol

I'm with you cee dog. Wax has come a long way since that was new. Cool though.

Oh boy, does that bring back memories.

That stuff was a bear to remove, worse than Simonize. But back then we didn't know or think about; thin baby thin!

Needless to say, it is a carb wax.

How does it smell, a nice 'wax smell'? If it still does, probably still is good.

Where's Mike P when we need him...oh that's right, he's on his way to Vegas.

Nice find. I always look for old antique tins and bottles of wax when at flea markets and garage sales. I'll probably never try using any of them but some that I have still look useable. Just an extension of the detailing hobby and a little of the pack rat in me too.

i am fully aware Meg's started has a funiture polish but i think Johnson's went the opposite way. started as a auto wax but ended up furniture polish

S.C. Johnson & Co. still has an auto care product line. :)

They're just like a lot of other companies that moved some of their operations offshore....and many folks still buy their products....I haven't yet, though.

If I do...I'll try to put together a comparison review write-up between Grand Prix and Rat Juice :D

I've never seen nor heard of Pledge saying it can be used on autos. I knew some folks that used it that way but never an official approval from Pledge.

I recently heard it on their television commercial. Maybe I dreamed that cause I can't find it on youtube. sorry.
