Non regretful detailing product purchase

Yes, I agree 100%. To anyone else who reads this in the future, pretty, pretty please don't willingly get a product with ammonium bifluoride on your skin. The same goes for sulfuric acid. Always use proper personal protection such as long rubber gloves, goggles, an appropriate mask, and other items to keep away corrosive chemicals from your body.

Take a look at this informative article.

I agree 100% with what you say about not getting it on your skin. If the guy read the bottle it says that. But nobody is going to wear all that safety equipment to wash their tires. Its not realistic. Masks don't even work unless they have been fit tested by a doctor and you need the right filters. Googles, long rubber gloves and protection to cover the rest of your skin come on. Someones going to wear all that in the summer when they wash their car?

If its that dangerous that you can't use it safely without all that then it shouldn't be sold. You're outside for god sake, some rubber gloves and a little caution thats it.

So far this year, my favorites (blown away) have been:

- Meguiars D156 Xpress Spray Wax
- McKees 37 Leather Shampoo 70/30
- Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant
- Meguiars M105 Compound
- DA polisher /w Lake Country CCS pads

Not aware of any wheel cleaners with sulfuric in them. ABF is more insidious than sulfuric. Sulfuric will let you know you've had contact with it via redness, inflammation, and pain. If you inhale sulfuric you'll know it. ABF may not give any obvious or immediate indication, so you're not even aware that you're getting exposed to it.

I think the pfm is over rated. For me, The best towel I've found is the 70/30 waffle weaves from trc. When I dry my car with them they feel like silk going over the paint. Absolutely zero friction. Thats my opinion andI have and have tried every popular towel out there right now

Well,I might have to pick one of those up to see if they're that good because the PFM rocks for me. When I buy hyped-up stuff I know I'm usually going to be let down, but this wasn't the case with the PFM.

He's right about a waffle weave gliding over the paint like silk. That's 1 of the main reasons I like them.

I have several drying towels. PFM is by far more absorbent than waffles and others. Waffles feel smoother. PFMs pick up water like nothing else.

Found one. Nanoskin Heavy Duty Acid Aluminum Brightener and Wheel Cleaner has sulfuric in it. It has hydrofluoric acid as well.

(I had no idea how many products Nanoskin had. They appear to be a large commercial supplier.)

the mckee's 37 rinse free wash & wax works really well (diluted 10:1) as a drying aid...

if you're looking for a car soap that deeps cleans then give megs car wash plus a shot. i wouldn't use this as a maintenance soap (or any soap that has citrus in it for that matter), but for prep prior to polishing/compounding/LSP. IMO this is a notch up from cg's citrus wash & gloss (smells like citrus too and needs to be shaken before use as well) in the cleaning department and a little goes a long way where you don't need to put too many lines/strips of product on the wash mitt as it lathers up quite a bit as you wash a panel (you can also put 1 ounce to 3 gallons of water for a bucket wash as well). don't know how well this is selling at the retail level so keep your eyes open since new 18' product placement on the retail shelves could possbily bump this into the clearance section. if anyone likes cg's citrus wash & gloss, try megs wash plus IMO it's like a better/improved version of cg's citrus wash & gloss...

This product is great! Been using it these past couple weeks on my daily and I was amazed at how well it eliminates scuff marks with just a little elbow grease.

Just used it yesterday with Stoner Speed Bead as a drying aid (another non regretful purchase) and I was very satisfied with the results.

For me this year (and from this forum) I discovered Meguiar's UFF and I love it! Super easy to use and behaves kind of like a ceramic coating (good self cleaning, repels water, doesn't attract as much dust, improves the shine)
