Greetings Everyone from Ontario, Canada.
I'm 19 and pretty new to auto detailing, as far as the "detailing" aspect goes anyways. My Dad owns a 2005 GMC Jimmy ZR2 (Pewter) and a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 4X4 LT (Graystone Metallic). I'm away at college until the summer, and the Jimmy has been my vehicle exclusively since September, 2009. The pewter is very good at hiding dirt and swirl marks, and with a close look there sure are a lot of them. Now that's it's my vehicle, I'm interested in taking really good care of it. Throughout last summer, I was washing it about every 2 weeks, vacuuming the interior frequently and dressing the interior with Armor All. I've since learned after much research, and studying many articles and products that I was doing many things wrong. Now that I'm enlightened on what the correct practices of detailing a vehicle are, and how in depth it goes, I believe my wallet will suffer this summer. I've fully acquainted myself with AG and have already produced a pretty hefty wish list. The Jimmy has some minor aesthetic repairs that need to happen, a few superficial scratches, a small dent in the driver's side door, a small paint chip on the hood, and the front right fender has chipped quite badly chipped, among a few other exterior eye-soars. I figure if I can learn how to become a competent detail-er, I'll have the skills and confidence (and product arsenal) to take care of my Dad's shiny Silverado and keep it maintained and looking new for years. I won't be able to dig deep into this hobby until the beginning of May, until then I will continue to lurk on this forum and attempt to draw from the fantastic advice and knowledge that is available here. I like the philosophy that drives this forum, and the people seem to be quite adamant about helping each other out. Hopefully into the summer, I will be able to give helpful advice of my own.
Until that happens, I wish everyone happy detailing this spring!
