Good day to everyone!!!

My name is Mark, and I am definitely a car detailing noob. I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima that has been fairly neglected, I would take it to the machine wash or the "100%" Hand Wash to get her cleaned once or twice a month, but it was never fully detailed. I would try to wash her myself, but after reading the threads, I realized I was doing EVERYTHING WRONG!!! I also have a 2012 Toyota Venza that I promise not to neglect like I did with the Maxima. This is a great site to learn about detailing my car, and maybe a couple of my friend's cars in the process...and maybe make a couple of dollars on the side. I am slowly in the process of gathering up supplies, and start working on her before the winter season comes around.
Thanks again for this site and for all your information!!! My eyes are so strained from all the info!!!:dblthumb2:

Welcome, fellow New Jersey-an! What part do you hail from? I'm in Essex County.

Hello Essex-ian....I hail from Bergen County.

Welcome! I'm from Hunterdon county. Us New Jerseyians are growing here at AG

Lol yup. Small world. Same here. I didnt know you were in NJ either. I guess it helps if i read under your user name.

Arm pit? What makes a county the arm pit of Jersey? Lol. As for local meets, that would be great, I'm not at that level yet to join a meet where my car is all oxidized and swirls and scratches are plentiful.
But is there a store in Jersey where I can buy supplies like a "grit guard"? I am the impatient type, and eventhough AG has great prices, I'm more the "need it now" consumer. I found out there is one in Norwood, NJ, but they close at 2pm.

The "meet" wouldn't be a contest, it would really be for people to trade tips, see products/polishers in action, try things out, ask questions, etc. and just get to hang out with like-minded people. Apparently they just did something like that in Norwood, but I never seem to find out about these things until after they are over.

Poorboy Steve up in Nyack also just hosted one of these earlier in the month, in our case we were trying for something a little more informal, but we never have any place to do it.

There is a detail supply store in Piscataway, he has hosted Meguiar's events there in the past but apparently is soured on that. It's called PAL Automotive, his hours aren't the greatest either, but he does have a good selection of Meg's products and some others, plus machines and pads, etc. Not sure if he has Grit Guards there.

Good to see more New Jerseyians. Welcome! I'm in Bergen County.

This is great to see Jerseyians. I thought a majority would be from the West Coast or the South since they don't see any harsh winters.

I'm not saying the whole county is an arm pit, just the area I live in.

Fairview...is that heading towards Union City? I've been living in Jersey for nearly 17 years from NYC, and still do not know what's in Bergen County.

Union city is next to the lincoln tunnel, I'm closer to the GW bridge. Fairview, is between ridgefield and north bergen. Bergen county is pretty big. Where are you?
