Noob from SE Texas

Steve, you are a good ways from me but my dad lives just outside Baton Rouge. And some buddies of mine usually do a trip to Houston when I'm in town. So maybe our paths will cross sometime. I do miss the South.
Sounds like you have a good idea of the knowledge you need before jump on any paint with the PC. Mike's videos and articles will help you a ton. Even though your vehicle is new you'll be surprised what an AIO like Klasse will do to clean it up and really bring out a shine. Really check the horizontal panel and around the fenders with the baggie test. Even if it doesn't feel like it needs coating I would do a test spot with the Klasse AIO and even do a 50/50 with KAIO next to just Klasse sealant. You might be very pleased with the results of the aio topped with Klasse sealant; especially since they are meant to be used together. If not just do Klasse sealant and enjoy the shine. I usually apply Klasse by hand since it requires you wipe it off right away; or at least that is what works best for me. I fold a piece cotton T-shirt into a pad and mist it with some QD. I only use this technique for paint that is in good condition. Otherwise KAIO on a white polishing pad on the PC works well for paint that needs more elbow grease than I am will to give by hand. You can spread Klasse sealant with the PC but need to work small areas at a time. And misting the pad with QD to start(known as priming the pad) helps it spread and not dry as quick. If you have trouble removing either Klasse product just use a damp microfiber or quickly hit the spot again with the damp applicator/pad and wipe off immediately.
Regardless of what you are doing in detailing, always work in small/manageable sections, not trying to tackle the whole vehicle at once. You seem like the type of guy to have this common sense and with the homework you do this will only become more evident/obvious.
As far as buying more microfiber towels, check AG's BOGO page for microfibers. They aren't always on there but best to check before making a purchase. I recommended the rolled edge microfibers. They come in blue and green so you can get six of each and designate blue for polish removal and green for wax/sealant removal. It's a good idea to keep a bucket of warm water and MF detergent ready so you can toss the used microfibers in to soak, especially the wax/sealant removal towels. Bit you may not want to mix the towels during soaking or washing.
As far as claying goes, you have several option available. Traditional clay and several clay alternatives/substitutes. I would pickup some Pinnacle Ultra poly clay and the Optimum clay eraser, fine grade. Pinnacle ultra clay is the softest clay you can get yet is very effective, especially on newer paint. I recommend getting some Black Fire clay cleaner/extender. It will extend the amount of uses you get from any traditional clay, vice just folding all the contamination back into the clay.
The Optimum eraser just seems very promising and cost much less than it's competition. I haven't used it but the reviews look promising.
Well my hands are cramping from all this typing. So I will let you read and get to your homework.;)
Post any questions that come up and will help the best we can.

Thanks a lot for your input Shaun, much appreciated. :xyxthumbs:

Not a problem Steve. Sharing is caring. Right?
Tested anything out yet? Hadn't checked to see if you started any new threads. Will do that now.

No I ended up needing to do some other work around our place Saturday and Sunday, didn't even get to wash my car (and it needs washing). We are going out of town this coming weekend so the 1st detail will have to wait until the weekend of the 16th.

Gotta have priorities whether it's a hobby or a business. Road trip?... sounds like a good time to check out some waterless wash solutions.:D
Gotta keep it clean especially if taking it on the road. WW paired with a spray wax/sealant would really help keep the bugs, bird droppings, and road grime off while traveling. At least take care of the front bumper and side mirrors.
Well, we will all be waiting til the 16th.:)
Be safe and have fun.

Actually we are taking our new travel trailer out for a "shakedown cruise", pulling it with my wife's Tahoe. My Sonata will remain at home in the garage while we are gone.

Rough life there Steve. Jk- LOL
Should have plenty of detailing practice when you get back. With the wife's Tahoe, Fohner travel trailer, and your Sonata, you will have your wash system/techniques down to a science shortly after March 16th.;D

Fohner? Need some help with that one.

Think that was a slip of the thumb and predictive text pulling a quick one on me. LOL That's actually a friend of mine's last name.
Either way, safe travels.:)

Figured as much. We're only travelling an hour or so from the house for this first trip with the new trailer. Hopefully we have most of the essentials we need. We are new to the RV world but there are forums that cover that kind of stuff complete with very detailed checklists on what to do before you leave home, what to do on arrival, etc. Plus my in-laws have been RV'ers for decades so they have provided some guidance as well.
