Noob Having Problems with Washing & Spots

Recently purchased a 2015 Black 4 Door Jeep Wrangler. This thing is big. I have to get up on a stool or small ladder to wash and dry the roof and the hood and the front windshield.

It is a daily driver by the way.

I am getting spots and white hazy areas after I initially dry with a Dry Me Crazy towel.

I am spraying Hydro on as I dry also.

I read how good Meguiars Hyper Wash is. What I did not realize was it is made for a foam gun. So I am using it since I bought it with the 2 bucket method. So I don't know if this is an issue or not.

Using a separate wash mitt with telescoping handle for the roof. Another mitt for the top half of the car and the hood. And a third mitt for the lower half and fenders.

But this vehicle is so big that parts of it are drying while I am still washing it. And this is in 40 - 50 degree weather.

I re-wet it with the hose but it does not prevent water from spotting.

I am using water from the sink in the house and rinsing with the hose so it is not filtered water.

I am thinking it has to be my water. Windows are spotting also and I dry them first. Spots do not come off with D120 but I can get them off with 1/2 vinegar and water.

Sounds like hard water, is getting a water softener a viable option?
 
I have a hard time with SUV's and large-ish vehicles as well. The problems with drying like you describe only get worse as the temperature rises.

The only thing I've been able to find to reduce the spotting is to wash, rinse, and dry the vehicle in sections. Typically one side and then the other. I have to be very careful with how I rinse things down, and it isn't perfect, but it has reduced my spotting a great deal. I also make sure I have a QD spray at hand to knock out any water spots found while drying.
 
You say you are spraying "hydro" on as you dry? Do you mean Hydro2? This needs to be sprayed with a heavy stream of water after you spray it on. Not a drying aide. This could be part of your problem, unless I am misunderstanding the actual product that you are using.

I would switch to something like DG901 for carwash soap. Also wash in the shade. The use something like DG Aquawax or similar as you dry.
 
Yeah I figured it was the water. I thought I could use the Hydro for a QD ?

I have a water softener that all my hot water runs from. It is not attached to the cold water or the hose.

Maybe put some softened hot water in a bucket and use that to rinse ?

Yeah Hydo2 I am using. I figured I might have a product problem also. I am going to use the Meguiars and Hydro2 up I think since I have them and then switch to another wash.

I have been spraying the Hydro2 on and then going over it with a drying towel as I dry. So not correct then eh ?
 
I know it is not available at AG but I use AMMO's hydrate for the drying aid. This won't eliminate the hard water issue but works well as the drying aid.

With Hydro2 you want to work out of direct sunlight, spray it on a wet surface, wait about 30 secs, and then blast it off with a high pressure nozzle or pressure washer.

Hydro2 is a sealant not a drying aid.
 
I have the same issue you have on mobile details when I can't get shade. Drives me insane especially when they are on the windows. I always have some nuglass handy to take care of it but would rather not have to do it. The water where I live is horrible and I need to get a spotless system. That's is next on the order list. Also thought about getting a boars hair brush to help with the wash time so I can get to drying it faster.

Sounds like you are using the hydro2 incorrectly. That is the first thing to leave out of the process and see how the results are. After that I would try using a rinseless wash method and see if that works any better. It works well on black vehicles that water spot easily IMO.
 
I am going to try washing then drying with a leaf blower.

Then light mist with Optimum Opti Clean since I have some as a drying aid and lubricant. Go over with damp micro towel and then buff with dry micro towel.

Will see how it comes out.

If that does not work then next step might be to get a water stick for my hose. And maybe some Carpro Spotless.
