Hello everyone,

I just finished wet sanding a Mustang that was repainted about three months ago with a single-stage red paint. After buffing with a PC 7424 and 3M rubbing compound & LC orange pad, the paint is coming along except on the plastic / fiberglass rear fin. It has a ton of surface scratches that seem to be from the sand paper....but they won't come out.

Should I use a rotary instead? If so, with which pad and product?

Thanks!

On my car Optimum polish on an orange/lc pad will take care of every swirl on painted metal. On my plastic I have to step up to Opt Compound on an orange pad to even make a dent in the swirls and I have used OC on a yellow pad to take care of swirls on my plastic. Maybe try something a little more agressive and see if that does it.

Thanks for the advice! I'll try it this week... I would have never thought to go with a more agressive pad or compound. Do you suggest using a rotary or sticking with the PC?

What's your opinion on Pinnacle or Wolfgang products?

I'll keep you posted! Thanks again!!!

Wolfgang, Pinnacle, and DP (all made by AG) are all fantastic lines. I use mostly Pinnacle and DP for my work. I have some other stuff mixed in. But if I was limited to only those 3 lines you would have quite the quality detailing line up.

I've attached a pic of the rear fin after wet sanding. I'll put up another when it's done....and the Optimum is on its way.

Again, thank you for all your help.
