Not a good week!!!!!

Ken -

Just checking in to see if all is close to back to normal for you.

Keep us updated.

I am so disappointed. I did a good deed by loaning my PC, pads, and several different products to Ken in his time of need. Ken came to my home in April (25 I think) and said he needed it for a few days, a week at most. Now 2 months later I still don't have my PC, etc back. Despite several promises from Ken. No shows, and now no return calls have pushed me to make this post.

It just shows that when loaning things to people, be sure you do so with the acceptance that you may never get it back.

Sorry to hear about that Reddwarf! I wonder what happened? The last time Ken posted was back in May 20.
Hopefully, you have a backup PC for you to do your own detailing.

If it was me, I would track him down and fine out what happen!

Reddwarf I am very sorry to hear about the loaned PC not being returned. If all that I've read is true and I believe it is then it's pathetic. In times of crisis people many people seem to be so honest and sincere, once the crisis is past they show their true colors. Circumstances don't make the man, they reveal him. I hope ultimately the PC is returned and it's just poor behavior vs finding out the whole story was a con to begin with.

Thats weird Reddwarf I sent him a pc too, schmitt, compounds, waxes.... He promised to post pics and I even called him to check and see if he was starting to pick buisness back up and he claimed it was raining for like 2 weeks.. This was in late April and early May

I know for a fact he got lots of supplies from us fellow geekers and I was hoping this was going to be a positive situation with a great outcome, but I'm still waiting as well :(

I haven't seen him on AG in awhile, put him on your buddy list so that when he is online you can PM him. To be honest I don't need my stuff back I just wanted some pics of his work (which we have never seen) and a check up on how he's doing.

Yikes! I hope this all turns out to be a misunderstanding.

His last post on craigslist was May 21st in the Automotive section. I haven't seen or heard from him since about this point.

Here is the classified...

Shine Fx detailing was born in 2005 in DFW with the mission statement "To provide our cleints with Highest Quality detailing services money can buy" My name is Ken Strahan(Ten yrs. detailing experience) i am the founder of Shine FX detailing and Exquisite Motoring Group. As a company we never compromise the quality of our workmanship for the sake of saving a dollar or price. We do everything from daily drivers to a $3 million dollar exotic sports car.And we look forward to passionatly serving our clients.

The diffrence between a amateur and PRO detail.
Pro Detail (60% preparation 40% product and technique)

1. 2 bucket system (One bucket clean water, one bucket soap when done washing a panel dip mitt in clean water to clean any dirt in the mitt from transfering to the paint on vehicle.

2.Claying ( A bar of sticky clay is used with a lubricant and the paint is gone over to remove embedded dirt and contaminents from the pores in the clear coat and paint to leave a slick and clean surface to laydown polish and wax and sealants.(This is a VERY important step.(IF IT ISNT CLAYED, IT IS NOT CLEAN)

3.Wax and polish products ( ShineFx detail uses Meguairs products and Pinnacle waxes and polishes which just as the name applies are the pinnacle of detailing products)The wax we use on every vehicle costs $80.00. and per ten ounces. We use approx.1-2 onces per vehicle.

4.ONLY edgeless microfibers are used on a cars finish so no swirls or scratchs are transfered to the finish.

5. Ongoing education and training

6.Shine Fx detailing is also a product appraiser for several wax companies.

Thank You very much,
Ken Strahan Shine FX Detailing [email protected]

 Reddwarf, that is absolutely pathetic for that to happen. If I get a UDM, you can have my pc. I would certainly hope something serious has happened for you not to get your stuff back. Everyone pulled together for this guy and now he's disappeared? WOW! Don't let it change the good in you......some people are just plain trash.

well he lives just a few miles from me...and i spoke to him on the fone a while back...and he said hes been busy with alot of stuff...also it has been raingin at least 5 times a week here...and business is a little slow...i donno y he hasnt been on here but i will try and find out and see whats going on with him

I too hope he pulls though with returning the stuff soon. I'm surprised that he has received two PC's and given neither back. I called him several times, once before Memorial Day he said he was real busy I told him not to worry about getting it back before Memorial Day weekend. Next call he said he had been ill. Next call he said "I'll see you tomorrow". He was a no show, next call, "I'll be there tomorrow for sure", again no show. Now I just get the answering machine and no return calls.

May be I'll be buying a UDM after all!

We all did what we thought was right at the time. No matter what the outcome I admire you guys for doing what you did.
He sure seemed sincerely thankful when he got help.

yea #1 thieves are the scum of the earth, #2 I cant believe the incredible responce by you guys to help a fellow detailer in need, you guys rock, #3 hopefully theres an explination for this outcome and everyones stuff turns up

oh wow, this post just took a nasty turn! I was just about to write how super nice it was for everyone to pitch in and get Shine some new detailing supplies, but it looks like he took everyone for a ride.

The good thing is that karma is a #####!!!

The progression of this thread was disheartening.

Regardless of the outcome, the top notch generosity of all involved is awesome and very hard to find these days.

Even though my time here so far has been brief, I am very happy to be associated to people that extend a helping hand to this extent.

A final update on this saga.

I called a couple of times a day and Ken's wife answered finally. I explained why I was calling and she said she would have Ken call me. I received no call. Then on Tuesday he answered the phone when I called. He offered no apologies, no excuses. He said he would be at my office on Friday about 11:00 AM with my PC & pads. As I suspected, he was a no show today. No answer to my calls.

I'm going to order a UDM and see what legal recourse I have available against him. I'm very disappointed at trying to help someone and getting robbed.

Please keep us updated on this saga Reddwarf.
We used to call guys that would do this "users" or "loads". Hope this user hasn't messed things up for the future when one of our members really needs help. I'll probably be there again b/c I beleive most people are good and honest.

My next step would be to show up at his door!

I need to see if I can find his address. One of the times I called I left a message saying to give me the address and I'll come get it.

Jimmie, I agree with you. I'd probably help the next person out to. However, I would take a few more precautions next time.

I'm sorry, but what an @$$hole thing to do. Usually I don't wish bad thing to happen to other people, but in this instance, people have been more than giving to him. Let's hope that he's got some bad karma coming his way!!!

Dwarf: let's send the boys 'round!
