Muscle car comment was from younger years...first car was a, red 69 Super Bee Roadrunner. $1400.00 in 1972.. Around here they weren't that neat...interiors very plain. But we used a white fruit of the loom tee shirt as your micro fibre towel. Turtle wax...the red rubbing compound and or the white polishing compound...some would use toothpaste and a tooth brush too....if someone had a baby in the family you would steal a clean diaper. That was the ultimate towel. Less complex, more fun. Had 4 TV channels and seems something good was always on.
