Not sure about Duragloss #501?

Great post!

I have been using dg501 for it's cleaning properties for years. I have mentioned it a few times on the forums and some have listened...

And I was one of those that listened Jason. Still using it with #105 as a follow up. :dblthumb2:

The 601/501/105 at 1:2:2 looks promising as an AIO.Thanks Richard for sharing your procedure.

Hey Rick, that combo is just plain hard to beat. I have found myself using dg 111 a lot lately. It provides a HARD AS NAILS sealant shine..

Have you tried 111? If not I'd be more than happy to send you of some (gratis of course)!.

I'm really looking for a AIO product and I think I want to give DG 501 a try.

But first can anyone chime in, I want to know what y'all think about Opt poli-seal or Meg's 151 compared to DG 501?

poliseal has more cut than DG501 which is more of a chemical cleaner with good protection. Protection of poliseal is not as strong imo.

never used D151 but I think it has even more cut than poliseal

I look at 501 as more a cleaner/sealant than an AIO I know it has micro abrassives in it but if an AIO is what you want something like Meg D151 is a better way to go.

Not anytime soon. We're in the beta testing stage with it. Durability tests for this winter are being run. This product needs to be put on with a DA. I really, really like it.

I like it as well, so far it is holding up well on our van :dblthumb2:

Thank you my amigo for the kind offer. I have not used DG #111 but since I stepped away from detailing for a living it really wouldn't get much use if any. Your gracious gesture is very much appreciated but I must decline.....the product is better off in your hands. I'll have to live to 150 just to use up all the crap I've accumulated over the years. You're a gem and I'm fortunate to have such a good friend.

I'll pass on a tip for cleaning your pads with either 501 or the Swirl Remover which is an even stronger cleaner than 501 is. Soak them in solvent overnight. That will clean them.

Good job Richard. We have been preaching about this product for a few years. Wait till Sparkie sees this...I think he's been using it longer than any of us!!

Snappy works well

Did you ever try this combo? I was thinking of trying this exact combo as an AIO for my Wash and Wax pkge.

I tried it only once by hand, and used less than 15 ml. It's like applying 105 but I had to work it a little bit more to clean the paint. I had to use 3 foam applicator pads. I am sure the cleaning action will be better if machine applied using a white pad. I don't know about durability but it (should) be close to the durability of 105 or somewhere in between 501/601's and 105/601's. I already premixed 120 ml of 501 and 105 (60 ml each) and shake the hell out of it so that I will just transfer 12 ml to a 30 ml bottle and add 3 ml of 601. If my math does not suck, I am now looking at around 39 applications out of my DG bottles.

:bump: Epic Thread ... Richy, based on what I have seen I can't wait for the beta product to come out as a retail product!

Thanks for the informative posts, guys!
This should be re-titled as: "The consummate Duragloss thread"
I've always felt that an aggressive but durable cleaner wax is often a great solution for a one-step on a daily driver, especially in areas where we have a real winter. My old favorites are gone, thanks to voc regs. Sounds like we may have a new winner! Gotta try some.

Another believer in Duragloss here! I applied it to my Jeep, and while it may not be as slick as I had hoped, dang it is protected!

It rained today, and the beading is ridiculous! The rain wouldn't stay put on vertical panels.

How do I know it's well protected? I tried to clean my pad with:
- DP Pad Cleaner - Nope!
- Meg's APC 4:1 - Nope!
- Purple power degreaser - Nope!
What finally removed 501/601 from my pad? Meg's All wheel cleaner. THAT'S what it took to break down this combo!!

However, I did spill a small amount of gas when filling up, and quickly wiped it off. Sadly, this removed the sealant from that very small (drop size) area. I guess it can't handle everything!

I will be picking up 111 and maybe 105 at my next opportunity.

Another quick observation: It repels dust better than anything I have used.

Good to know. Just ordered DG 501,105 and 601 today from AG.

just mixed and applied 501/601/105 today for the G35 after it's weekly wash. i used a flat white LC pad on my PC 7424. used a foam applicator pad in the tight areas.

it went on well with the PC. applied thin of course and did about 3 passes each panel. had great cleaning ability. after applying, i wiped down the rims and applied the mixture to them as well. after which i removed the mixture from the paint and then the rims. some of the sealant was tough to remove and there was a little bit(not much) of dusting from it being dry. im guessing these areas were where i had too much product on the pad.

After wiping the rims i applied DG AW to the car to make the paint pop and also to ensure i removed completely all the sealant.

i just ran some errands in the truck, leaving the car in the garage. i got home and walked by the car, of course checking it out, and thought 'what is that smell?!' 501/601/105 smells GREAT! i wanted to lick the car jk of course. my wife walked by and said it smelled sweet. lol

anyways, i mixed 501/601/105 at 50%,25%,25% if anyone is wondering. i will keep you all posted on the durability.
