Not too happy

Alright, attempt number 2 tomorrow, and I did use some Megs UP on the trunk lid and it cleaned up those marks left by the compound so im not too nervous :-)
 
When I was 17 for my Bday I asked for a PC as a gift. I got that some foam pads but not quite enough for what I was going to take on...

That's not the point that I'm trying to get at but at 17 the PC was a monster to deal with. The vibration that it sent through my body was unreal and was a huge work out for my arms. I still kept it steady however and held on for dear life..

I put the PC away and just didn't do a good job of washing my car to AG/Autopian standards....till now.

I'm 25, 5'6 and the PC/GG 6 are my tools of the trade and TBH, they're easy to control. I think for you, you probably didn't expect the machine to be such a vibration monster at all. I have never meet such an item that I could vibrate so much when it came in contact with a solid object (that being the car because when you spin a PC/GG freely in the air you have absolutely zero issues).

Ditch the side handle and hold the head of the polisher with a firm grip and give it a nice downward pressure (four~five lbs of downward pressure) and just keep it steady when you turn it on. Also try to purchase a 5" BP from Meguiars/LC and get some 5.5" pads if you're doing your whole car.
 
Thanks for the info and encouragement, I had a 5in backing plate and I just got cyan, orange, white and red 5.5in pads.
 
Ok so much happier today! Still not 100% where I want to be but it will have to wait till spring now lol

Here's what I did, what I learned, what I think Ill do different next time:

Washed
Clayed
Megs UC with 5.5in Orange HT LC Pad w/ 5in Backing Plate - 5.5 speed on the PC
Megs UP with 6.5in White CCS LC Pad with 5in backing plate - 4.5 speed
Sealed using Rejex sealant and a 5.5in Red Flat LC pad with 5in backing plate - 3.5 speed

Heres my thoughts:
-I think the pad/compound-polish combo wasnt aggressive enough, maybe UC with Cyan? And UP with orange? theres still some swirls, but I was able to get rid of the damage I caused with my first attempt...

- I think I need a different pad to apply my sealant because that pad ate up so much product it was unbelievable, when I went to wash it out i felt like 70% of the product I used came out of the pad when I washed.

- Also, not a fan of using MF bonnets, seems to be a waste of time to remove products

Ill post some pics in the "Show N Shine" section tomorrow but let me know your thoughts
 
- I've always found bonnets for polishers to suck...just get good polishing towels.

- You can never have enough pads. If you have the money I would get more pads of all styles that's right for your machine (IE for the PC I would pick up 5.5" pads of all styles from the Flat LC to Megs MF): as back ups, as permanets (you'll find out once you use finishing pads to apply LSPs it can be a REAL pain to clean them out. Polishes/compounds on the other hand are usually easy since they are water soluble)

- If Ultimate Compound and Polish aren't working out check something else out.

You can try UC + Cyan pad or go M105 + Cyan/Orange pad if you must.

Also try to get some sun shots of problem areas so some of the pros on the board can chime in on what might work for you.
 
I have never had luck priming a pad as shown. I usually end up with an over primed pad.
