Great job, Stu. That is a beautiful car, too bad the weather is crappy cold for us Jerseyans now.
I have read on forums that Porsche clear coat is very soft, so I hope that Black vehicle doesn't drive you crazy. But it looks absolutely breath-taking.
I may have to start asking YOU for advice on good Flex technique. :xyxthumbs:

Thanks for the kind words Emile,
Yes I think you are right about the paint being soft. I think if you are really careful with your washing and drying technique and always focus on the job at hand (as Mike Phillips has often said) you can keep the swirls to a minimum. I HOPE!!
As far as getting good Flex technique, believe it or not if you take it slow and pay attention to the machine you will find that the Fex will tell you what it likes. I know that this is going to sound very zen-like but if you can allow yourself to close everything else out you can almost feel yourself becoming one with the machine. It is almost as if the machine becomes an extension of yourself. i know that I have a lot to learn and i am thoroughly enjoying the education that i have been recieving from you and all the other nice people on the forum.

hi i am the newbie who suffered from fear of the flex. I want to offer my thanks to all of those who helped me with their sound advice and words of encouragement and not to mention a few choice words from my personal detail fairy (inside joke). I would like to structure this post as a work in progress as this is all new to me. So at this point i will start out showing the swirls that i have on the car which appeared after the dealer's showroom glaze was washed away. I only polished the hood, so far, with wolfgang total swirl remover. I am waiting for delivery of the edge adapter and 4" pads for my flex 3401. While i am waiting for my delivery please provide me with any feedback that you may have as i would like to correct anything that i may be doing incorrectly before i continue on the rest of the car.:buffing:
I used a lake country white smart pad with the total swirl remover

and lastly to the man who embarrassed me into finally getting up on the bike and who than stayed at my side so i didn't fall flat on my face i want to thank my guardian angel of detailing dana aka asphalt rocket
the car was polished in three steps wts, wfg, 85rd followed by wppe. Two coats of wdgps were applied by hand as was 2 coats of fuzion. Aside from the doors and hood the rest of the car was polished using the edge 4" orange, green, and white pads on my flex 3401.unclestu2uunclestu2u

Sorry for the delayed response, I didn't check back on this thread to see your reply until just now.
I live up north in Bergen County, in Alpine, NJ. My main office is nearby in Englewood Cliffs, but my job sites are in Central Jersey, by Freehold. I was down there today in Marlboro and Millstone Township.
I think I get what you mean about trying to be connected to the Flex. It seems that things will go smoothly as long as the machine is held properly, but it will boss me around if I'm not holding it at proper angle.
