Alright fellow AG'rs, Long story short, Bought a paint protection package from dealership, they did'nt do a good prep and there are tiny objects embedded in the coat. Should I still use my PC with these in there or is this asking for trouble?

Feed back please

What do you mean by "tiny objects", can you feel them? Before doing anything, clay. If you wax or use the PC or anything and there is stuff on the paint, your just going to grind it in causing more swirls and scratches.

CLAY CLAY CLAY.......:)

I tried the meguiars clay kit and got some of them out. There is one that you can barely feel the top. I can wax over it because it is lodged in there just a bit showing. They are like little rocks or dust.

CLAY AGAIN......LOTSA LUBE....

Can you get a pic of it? Try spot claying harder in that area. I would also use some Klasse AIO or a light polish and strip the crap paint protection you bought that's nothing more then a cheap sealant, they pry charged you a couple hundred as well right? I've seen some poeple post they paid 800 lol.

:iagree: Now that I'm getting all edumecated here about what to put on the vehicle and how to properly prep a vehicle I'll never get any protection package for any future vehicles.

The meguiars clay isn't that great, I've purchased one and wasn’t very pleased with it. I also purchased the mothers (yellow clay bar) and it did a much better job then meguiars...just my opinion though. But yes I agree with everyone here clay as much as possible because if you don't and you go over it with the PC you'll get worse scratches.

Could there have been something on the paint prior to adding the paint protection? if there is debris under or in the paint protection go back to the dealer,if you try to fix the problem yourself your going to void the warranty..and if you tried to rectify the problem yourself i wouldn't admit that to the dealer either..

GOOD POINT....TAKE HEED....;)

Yeah i was'nt very happy when I saw it. At least i know they put the package i bought on it, just that they did'nt do a good job. I only paid 300 for it. It is that acrylic spray on shield. They did'nt do my bumper though. I am going to try the pinnacle clay on it. Thanks for the inputs guys.

Perhaps this isn't exactly on subject, but I notice on two of my vehicles, both pearl coats, that there appears to be a ripple surface on the paint. It does not look smooth, but feels smooth. Is this just the nature of metallic paint? The two vehicles are a Toyota Avalon in blizzard pearl and a Chrysler T & C in metallic blue. The reflections I get after detailing look somewhat fuzzy which doesn't seem to be the case with pictures other members have submitted. Is it the paint job or do I need to adjust my detailing Procedure? Help!

I'm not positive and don't qoute me on it,but the ripple effect your seeing is most likely your clear coat..when the vehicle was painted and the CC was applied it might not have cured or leveled properly causing your CC to ripple..

The reason i say this because i had my hood redone twice , i think it was because the shop that repaired my car didn't have a spray booth at the time and with the humidity the CC didn't cure right..

just a thought ..

Thanks joe. p. I see the Toyota dealer tomorrow. Will pursue it with them. I may also post a new thread on this subject as well and solicit other opinions. Thanks again.
