Occupy Wall Street

I mean, China is becoming the owner of the USofA as we sit by and watch like sheep while our government hands over the keys. I fear we are in serious jeopardy of losing our very freedom, that which made us the greatest country in the world.

Just saying the US holds the biggest amount of our own debt News Headlines

China would be the biggest foreign owner of debt

But

(Within US) Federal Reserve and Intragovernmental Holdings US debt holdings: $5.351 trillion
Is very different from China US debt holdings: $895.6 billion

Not even a trillion and number two on the list (still above a trillion) is still within the US (China is number 3)
(Within US) Other Investors/Savings Bonds US debt holdings $1.458 trillion

Very big misconception that "China owns us"

I don't usually weigh in on these types of threads but I just read something that fries my bacon and has become pervasive.... HP's CEO gets the ax for running the company into the ground and hits the doors with millions as a reward. While one can point to numerous examples of cause & effect, the basic problem is a lack of what we've always been told are "American Values". Social responsibility and accountability are lost values. IMO, instead of rewarding the miscreants with golden parachutes for devastating companies, driving people out of work and wiping out hard-working people's savings and investments they ought to be down in Guantanamo for a waterboarding vacation.

Gordon Gecko said "greed is good"... and in a capitalistic system to some degree it's necessary. But it's gotten out of control and become the main motivation behind corporate bigwigs, politicians and in general those that are supposed to be in a position to "do the right thing".

If I'm ever King it's all going to change. Right after I'm done with the executions. I'll be nominating BobbyG as my Secretary of Guillotines because he has the right no BS attitude. :xyxthumbs:

Partisonship and self-interest above all else, regardless of the arena, is just pain wrong. The revolution is brewing. These days I'm thinking the anti-government wingnuts out in the boonies preaching overthrow and distrust of government aren't looking quite so wacky anymore. Excuse me while I retire out back to my cabin to start my manifesto... :D

As long as I don't have to see that windbag Nancy Polosi nude, I think I'll be able to survive :)

Oh great, first thing in the morning and I'm poking out my mind's eye with a sharp stick! Thanks.

When Warren Buffet publicly states that he pays less taxes annually than his secretary then something's terribly wrong!....................or his secretary makes a couple a billion$$ a year....

:iagree: Excellent post!

Some may say that the 50 million plus people that don't pay federal income taxes a year are a bigger problem. What do you think Bobby?

According to CNN Money, Buffets federal tax bill for 2010 was almost $7,000,000. He may pay a smaller percentage than his secretary. But that's because a lot of his income is capital gains which are taxed at a different rate than regular income. Don't forget there is risk in investing, and the money invested was already taxed when it was originally earned. Also his philanthropic activities reduce his tax bill.

Then there is this Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway Owes Back Taxes | TheBlaze.com

I realize that tax disputes with the IRS are common with returns as complex as Bershire Hathaway's must be. But it does put a different perspective on his "Tax Me More Please" public stance.

Where did you ppl learn all this stuff?

Either I need to quit, or you need to start watching more cartoons in the afternoon

Only time will tell if we've reached a turning point of historical significance or just another blip on the screen. This nation has always had it's haves and have nots. The "middle class" reached it's peak in the post WWII era. IMO the middle class as we know it is unsustainable given the greed of wall street investment houses and bankers, the fact that both major political parties have been co-opted by big business and it's money (which has been sanctioned by the US Supreme Ct in Citizen's United v. Federal Election Commission, 558 US,(2010), and the fact that politicians are enept, egotistical blowhards that are unwilling to focus on anything beyond their own re-election

See, now you are just being greedy. You should split those 10 hours with one of those unemployed protesters. You work the first 5 and he/she can work the second 5.
Just don't make any plans for immediately after your shift is over.

They can have all 10 of them if they want them. I'm pretty upset that I'm going to miss the game since it's my senior year.

I just saw that the protestors have moved to right outside the home of a CEO for a large corporation.

Where should I start......

  • I think that there should be a flat tax for everyone.
  • There should be no deductions
  • There should be no exceptions
  • There should be no shelters
  • 2 term lifetime limit on any public office
  • No special interest groups
    • No Gays
    • No Lesbians
    • No Blacks
    • No Whites
    • No Teachers
    • No Unions
    • No NOTHING
  • No corporate donations
  • American corporations cannot move out of the United States
  • Deport 25,000,000 illegal aliens.
Automobile manufactures encourage each and every one of us to buy an American car. Over 90% of the parts that go into building an American car are made outside the country.
One General Motors plant in Mexico is over 2 miles long. They build a large number of complete vehicles both cars and truck that are sold in the United States...I've been there, I've seen it!

A flat tax takes everyone into account and no multimillionaire pays less taxes that working stiff like me and you... It's nothing more than simple math

$5,000,000 - Tax = $250,000
$50,000 - Tax = $2,500
