I've done a lot of Tesla's but never one like this. A Chip Foose color originally and painted at the factory on this P85D. I was honored to be contacted by a very researched and informed customer to complete the correction of the paint. For this I could only use the Finest techniques and products available to me. I really feel like this car changed colors during my correction and had a blinding "pop" to it when I was done. For this rare opportunity to me, I was mobile so I packed up and made a 2 hour commute in horrible traffic to get there. Very worth it! No help on this one, I really could not remember the last time I did an entire car start to finish by my self(I'm never with out my side kick little brother, but on this day he was back at the shop tending to other things).

Lets get on with it!

When I got there the paint looked dull... Color was really cool but I knew something was up even in this lighting

Decon with Iron-X was the truth teller from factory applied wax or glaze

Sanding marks were every where! I was pressed for time when I was doing this so not a ton of pics but car was covered in this sort of damage.

After compounding I was able to remove them. The paint was polished with my old faithful never fail! Black Fire SRC Finishing polish for major bling!

Getting glossy up in here! Still haven't polished. First was making it look good, second was blinding me!

8 hours later of me working as efficiently as I could(Lucky me I've done 500 tesla and think I could do this blindfolded) I was ready to coat it! This is bare naked paint after 2 car pro eraser wipe downs in prep for Cquartz Finest!

3 Coats of Cquartz Finest later! All paint coated, Trim coated, Glass coated! The wheels were getting replaced next day with some HRE custom ones!

That Gloss!

It took me 10 hours to this. No break, no stopping. And the entire front end was wrapped in PPF so minimal polishing there. Results were nothing less than blinding.

The next day after new wheels were installed! I love how this color changes in different light! Still waiting to see it out in the sun where it looks orange.

Thanks for looking

Wow, what a triply color, I bet it's amazing in person...

Normally, the gloss is not picked-up too well by the camera in many postings, but this one is not one of those for sure. That gloss is amazing! I bet the customer was thrilled!

Was there a big difference in paint finish comparing the clear bra to corrected and coated paint?

Firstly - awesome work mate. Really nice job! :dblthumb2:

That colour is gorgeous. I would love to see that in the sun.

I seen a couple of these when I came to Boot Camp. What a remarkable looking car. I don't know much about these Tesla's as we don't get them down here so a quick who, what, where & when from someone would be an insight?

Again - top work on making that look proper! :props:

Is the color "rootbeer"?

I have seen a few customs cars and lead sleds painted in House of Color Rootbeer and it looks like that, but with a bit more flake in it.

Nice save and transformation!

Just a tip...

After inserting a picture, hit the [ENTER] two times to put some WHITE SPACE between your text and pictures.

This makes it easier on the eyes to read and follow the story.

I tweaked the format a little to show you what I mean.
