So my OC Pro has been amazing at protecting against swirls, theres barely any on my black finish but the hood is completely covered in water spots. Its the only part of the car that is OC'd and its the only part that has them.

I have no idea how to remove them without scratching the OC, paint, or polishing down the OC.

Any ideas?

These pics generally capture it but just imagine what you see around the sunlight but over the entire hood.

Thanks!

I would try CarPro Spotless Water Spot Remover 1st. Follow the directions closely

If that does not work, Optimum recommends doing a light polish with their Optimum Spray Polish on a soft finishing pad

Directions:

1.Shake well. Ensure surface is cool to the touch.

2.Wash vehicle to remove loose dirt and contaminants.

3.Spray Spotless directly onto the surface.

4.Evenly distribute Spotless using a CarPro Suede Applicator.

5.Immediately remove excess residue using a microfiber towel.

6.Thoroughly rinse surface.

7.Dry and inspect the surface.

Repeat steps 1-6 if water spots remain.

Step #5 is very important. If you let the product dry on the surface or do not remove as directed, I have seen smaller spots develop that require re-application of Spotless

Thanks. I'll order that. In the mean time I have 3D Eraser Water Spot remover coming.

Is that any good? Heard amazing things.

Hopefully these water spots are from rain and not a sprinkler system

Rain spots are typically much easier to remove

Wash the car immediately, to reduce that chance of etching

You should also read Mike Phillips thread on different types of water spots. It is a scary thread, because not all water spots are so easily removed

Make sure you post some "Afters" including close-ups

Good Luck

This is why i no longer coat my personal vehicles. this was happening to my car even with softened water (CR spotless) or simply rain.

I would drive my car in the rain, park it and the next day the results were identical to your pictures. Of course my first thought was that because this is rainwater they will wash off during the next carwash. NOPE. they were set in stone on the paint. 95% of the time light polishing wouldn't remove them. At that point I'm compounding my car and also removing the coating. So what the heck is the point of the coating if it has to come down to this ???

If I knew I would have to go wash and dry my car during a downpour(something I actually did on numerous occasions) to avoid waterspots I would have never applied Opti-Coat...

Luckily Carpro waterspot remover is a tremendously effective product.

Thankfully high quality polymer sealants are still available. This never happens when I use something like Menzerna Power Lock, Pinnacle liquid Souveran, Sonax PNS or even a wax like Wolfgang fuzion.

theres a good reason coating manufacturers came out with follow up products like RELOAD, EXO v2, Sonax PNS, and the new topper product from 22PLE. They know this is a problem. The only company still with no solution is Optimum.
