Oil Filters?

Thanks for the replies, I had no idea.

Very nice report....I get a report like that also...told me to run the Amsoil 18,000 miles and do another test..my wear is below normal and oil is fine at 10.000 and could go more...

The MotorCraft is a fine oil....gets high marks for performance....and Yes the Advanced filters are good.....I forgot them..made by puralotor I was told....also the wal mart filters are good...made by champ labs...gets good ratings.....

glad to see others check the oils performance.....worth it in my books....detect a problem early

I could probably take the oil further as the 1.3% fuel detected was a fuel injector that was clogged and squirting right onto the spark plug. This was causing unburned fuel and poor performance on my #5 cylinder (also poor gas mileage; besides my lead foot). So for $20 plus shipping I was able to track my poor mpg issue (excess fuel detacted in the oil) and performance lost. Well worth every penny.

So its kind of like getting your pool water tested? Take a small sample and mail it in.

Yes Black Stone Labs sends you a bottle free of charge and you send the sample when ever you are ready. It comes with instructions on what to do and how to do them (as does there web site if need be). When they are done they send you a pdf file (if you give them your email) with you're analysis then a few days come the paper copy. Post office may give you a hassle claiming oil is a HazMat so I just used UPS to send it no troubles at all.

you should have no problem sending by US mail...I work at the PO and see lots of these coming thru....just tape the cap to prevent leaks.....I bring mine to work and drop in our box to be sent out.....just tape the cap..

I work in the truck shop and we send oil samples out all day....it is not considered a ORM-D substance..which is highly flamable...so it ships ok...
