Is it down to the prime? Looks pretty deep, I would try a compound, and if that doesn't work might need wet sanding. Regular polishes just aren't strong enough for something like that...you'll need something along the lines of the strength of Optimum Compound/Hyper Compound etc.

I've only delt with a couple scratches and even OC was hard pressed on them. I know on other boards anytime theres a key mark they almost always end up wet sanding the spot.

Deepest part is the picture where its pretty thick compared to the door etc....

It looks like it is down to primer to me....which means call up the ins. co and get it re-painted. If it isn't primer, I doubt your going to get away without wetsanding. Good luck.

Agree, either wetsanding or repainting are you only options IMO, that looks pretty deep. I don't think wetsanding will help with it being so deep. Try polishing with a compound and see what happens, but doubt it'll put a dent in that.

You may also have to be carful compounding it without wetsanding down the degeds first. You can catch the edge of the paint with a hard enough pad and pull more paint off. Not that it will matter too much since I think it will have to be repainted anyway, but just a heads up.

Great I think She's better off getting it repainted.... her stupid exbf did this....it's so got his name written all over it....he did something else to the car but I'm not gonna post that picture.....

why not pics?

your not saying that HE PUT A COAT OF TW ON THE CAR without removing it?????

thats just evil........

if the finger nail can decifier the scratch, then a body shop is necessary.

I removed a nasty scratch from my left rear QT panel..I slowly worked the scratch until it faded a bit..i used some touch up paint i had from the body shop..i applied the touch up in multiple thin layers ..i let each layer dry..buffing between each layer being carful not to remove the last..its not a 100% perfect..at this point you would need to look for it..

tell me he did not "sack" teh car lol?

Back in high school, my sister had this exbf who after she broke up with him. Her truck was completley keyed all over with curse words and everything, the whole truck had to be repainted.

Some people can be so evil and childish at the same time. I'd rather have a kick in the sack than have someone key my truck. That's why I never piss anyone off when I'm about to park my car somewhere. They could come back and mess with it!

You nailed the donkey right on the money. I'd post the pictures but the curse words etc...

This guy is a real piece of work. I got most of the minor stuff out, but the driver side door and the hood will need to be checked out by a body shop. I'm guessing its gonna have to be either 1. wetsanded or 2. repainted. She's just thinkin getting it painted and dumping the car...

And to think this all because she got a job working at a bar in ft.lauderdale didn't return a few phone calls and slept in late few days in a row accused of cheating etc........ what gives eeeesh!

I agree with the touch up paint, if anything it will be good to practice. I've done this and got good results. What I did was I did a few layers of touch up paint and got it just above the original pain, then wet sanded and if needed do another layer of touch up paint then wet sand again and then polish and add a bit of clear coat and I got good results doing this.

Well just food for thought.
