Ok, I'm gonna say it...

I've been riding for many years. A few dirt bikes and sport bikes when I was younger then moved on to an Arlen Ness and also a Deuce found it's way into my garage. I truly believe that after riding for so long you actually become a better vehicle driver..meaning you are simply more aware of your surroundings. Keep riding enjoyable for yourself and ride smart! It almost becomes second nature to plan ahead, for example when you notice the oncoming vehicle with their left turn signal on, with a cell phone to their ear... Ride on!

I've seen plenty of bad drivers of each gender. I honestly believe it should be harder to obtain a license. It's ridiculously easy in some areas to pass the driving test.

I truly think the difference is men enjoy driving. They are usually into cars, and even if they are not, they are the husband getting his family safely to their destination.

Women, on the other hand, in general, think of cars as appliances. It's an inconvenience to get from point A to point B. So they aren't paying attention to things as much because they are bored.

I enjoy driving my car- hell, I go out just to drive sometimes.

I also think (and this is another can of worms) that most women do not drive manuals. Driving a manual IMO makes you way more alert to changing driving conditions.

Driving manual keeps you busy, so it's much harder to get bored. Also, I think most people who drive manual enjoy driving.

I think it's a multi-tasking thing for women. Men are usually more focused on single tasks, so when we drive, we concentrate on that. Momen usually like to do several things at the same time. In a car that is not such a good thing. Studies have proven that multi-tasking severelly reduce how good you are at perfoming each of those tasks. The danger is that people who multi-task don't feel like they are doing any worst at each of the things they are doing.

In Chicago I'm going to say it's a pretty even mix of terrible drivers from every gender/nationality/race. Driving into the city from Indiana every weekday I see some pretty wild stunts. Thankfully I've only been hit once and it was minor..... But obviously the guy did not have insurance.
